Spello is a charming 12th century village in the Umbrian hills, nicknamed 'The Jewel of Umbria' for its rich historical heritage, well-preserved Roman and medieval architecture and breathtaking views. Besides its scenic beauty, Spello offers delicious regional culinary specialities served in its local restaurants, including porcini mushrooms, truffles, olive oil and wine. The village is also renowned for its narrow, winding streets, charming hidden courtyards and lush vegetation. Thanks to its central location and the presence of a railway station, Spello is a perfect starting point for exploring other fascinating historical villages, such as Montefalco, known for its wine production. Spello's most important event is the Infiorata, a celebration in which residents decorate the streets with carpets of flowers, attracting visitors from all over the world.
