La Bomboniera is the ideal place to spend a few days in a medieval village while having the opportunity to reach other small towns and art cities of Tuscany and Umbria. All essential services in Cortona can be reached on foot from the apartment; in fact, a short walk takes you to the city center, which offers small artisan shops, ice cream parlors, and restaurants. Alternatively, you can enjoy a good glass of wine while comfortably seated in the square, admiring the "passeggiata" of passersby. Cortona is a very picturesque village due to its typically medieval architecture consisting of ancient palaces, narrow and cobblestone alleys, small artisan shops, and typical family-run Tuscan trattorias. The city was an important Etruscan center, so much so that the presence of ancient settlements is still characterized today by 2 km of walls dating back to the 5th century B.C. You can visit the MAEC, a museum that brings together the ancient 18th-century collections of the Etruscan Academy, such as the Etruscan Chandelier and the "Tabula Cortonensis", the historic library, and the works of Gino Severini with the most recent archaeological findings that illustrate the history of Cortona.
