I Ulrike, born in German, have been offering self-catering accommodations in Castellina in Chianti for more the 35 years - I was one of the first to do so also in the winter, a perfect time for snow-birds. In spring of 2015 my son Fabian joined me in the management of this beautiful property, after spending several years abroad. we try to offer out guests a genuine Tuscan farm experience in an authentic ambiente of .. once upon the time ... combining the real country lifestyle with modern comfort. we try our best to make our international guests feel welcome - following our typical Tuscan welcome dinner with all of our guests on saturday evenings - everybody becomes part of this family. though our accommodations are self-catering and self-serviced we still stand for flexibility and personalized service whenever necessary and possible as of 2015 we also offer 3 demanding 3D archery ranges as well as archery lessons. 7 hiking trails start and finish in the property. some of them also for bikers. The chianti region is a paradise for off as well as on-road bikers. Most of the famous sights are within 60 min car drive. Only 500 m gravel road lead to the main road. Airports: Florence, Pisa, Bologna, train station: Poggibonsi, Castellina Scala (approx. 30 min) Our place is also perfect for hikers and bikers.

Surrounded by a landscaped, well-lit, park-like garden sits the imposing guest house complex which its 4 self-catering accommodation combinations: Casa Pineta (4BR/4BA - up to 12 pers.), Casa Acacia (3BR/2BA - up to 8 pers.), Casa Capannina (2BR/2BA - up to 6 pers.), La Tana (2BR/1BA - up to 4 pers.) Slightly below the guest houses with is a large fenced-in community swimming pool (12 x 6 m) surrounded by a relaxing leisure area with sunning chairs; several shady , pavilions with tables and chairs. The shallow entry platform (3x3m) into the pool is an ideal play space for the smallest of our guests. Beyond the perimeter of the pool is a large grassy playground with soccer field, basketball, volleyball, ping pong. For an additional charge, on Saturday night guests may request a place at the dining table to experience the traditional Tuscan welcome dinner. Or join the specialty dinners during the week. These services are on request only. Populating this paradise are many friendly cats, 2 well-behaved dogs, chicken, geese, ducks, geese, pigeons and peacocks. A small herd of rare Cameroon sheep graze on the hillsides

There are few real authentic Chianti estates left like Poderi Val Verde – with a feeling of …once upon the time … a place with more then 3 centuries of history - located out in the country side surrounded by unspoiled nature , but still only 5 min drive from the famous wine town of Castellina in Chianti (shopping, restaurants, pharmacy, doctors, church, bus stop) and midways between the pulsating cities of Florence (35 min) and Siena (25 min) No real need to look for lodging all throughout Tuscany, packing and unpacking - Poderi Val Verde is located central to almost all famous towns and cities. Florence, Siena, Greve, Radda, Gaiole, San Gimignano and Volterra are less then 1 hour by car, Lucca, Pisa, Pistoia, Arezzo , Montepulcina, Montalcino, Pienza, Cortona, Perugia or Assisi are less then 2 hours by car; even day trips by train, bus or car to 5Terre, Rome, Milano, Venice are possible. The beaches (Marina di Grosseto etc.) are approx. 1,5 hrs drive. Staying at Poderi Val Verde means staying in the heart of the Italian culture, staying where some of the best Italian wines are made and where you can taste famous Tuscan dishes.
