Hosts were delightful - you felt as if you were part of the family ☺️ Breakfast was delicious. The hosts brought us tea and biscuits when we arrived. All in all a great experience!

Places like Mimatsuso have become very hard to find over the years. A trip down memory lane that harks back to when I first lived in Jaoan in the late 1970s. A communal bath room that seduces you with its warmth when you enter. Large tatami mat rooms and a very obliging host with family in tow. I have come to embrace " wabi " more and more as time goes by. And in a time of overconsumption and climate change etc etc Mimatsuso may be "dated" , which is precisely why I like it so much. Great value for money.

Our hosts were perfect. They were very helpful, friendly & did their utmost to make our stay enjoyable. On arrival we were given tea & a snack. In fact each afternoon we were treated to tea & a snack. The Ryokan was close to the train station, buses & a shopping mall. We had a wonderful Japanese breakfast each day & a beautiful Japanese dinner each night. I would highly recommend this accommodation when staying in Asahikawa.

The people who run the place were lovely from the start. We were able to leave our luggage before the check-in time and go to see the Asahikawa Winter Festival. When we came back, our luggage was brought to our "living room" which was separate from the bedroom (a big plus!). The rooms were clean, the bath was relaxing, and the location was very convenient. The welcome service was a cup of green tea and a sweet treat. This was a great example of the famous Japanese hospitality. At check-out, we received a little gift with an origami crane and some more sweets inside! I highly recommend staying at this ryokan for some amazing memories from Asahikawa!

It was old, but clean and very comfortable, as well as being very central for eating out. The hosts were wonderful, from restaurant recommendations, hot tea every afternoon, and providing a boot dryer for my ski boots. Will definitely stay there again

A very traditional and homely ryokan stay. The owner is very friendly and helpful. Room was super comfy too. The home cooked breakfast is so authentic and tasty that you should book for it a few days in advance, with just 800 yen extra. I really enjoyed my stay here. Owner also gave guests small gifts which is really sweet of him. Very thoughtful.

This place feels like a little home in Japan, the owners are extremely kind and caring. The lady brought me snacks and tea whenever I came back from a day of walking and they are always at the door when you leave and come back. The futon are comfy, it had extra padding for non-initiated people so you could sleep properly even for a night or two. The bathroom is traditional in the sense where you clean yourself and then relax in the hot pool of water (the same for everyone).
