This is a beautiful local Japanese area. 5 minutes walk to the station (Nakano Shimbashi) and the 7 minutes on the train to Shinjuku - one of the main shopping and tourist hubs in Tokyo. In Shinjuku there is also lots of restaurants and night life. Around the local station, on the shopping street, there are plenty of bars & restaurants and one really good coffee shop and a Takoyaki shop and a bakery. There is also a small fruit and vegetable shop as well as a larger supermarket that has everything that you ever need. One of my favorite restaurants in the area is called "Koala" - the staff are very nice and the food is always good and its not very expensive.
