A place steeped in history and culture, Na Bolon does not feel like a hotel, it feels like you are a guest in a world that has seen San Christobal from its undiscovered, intriguing past to its interesting and tasteful recent developments. The staff were helpful and friendly without being obsequious. A special place to while away the whole day, or just use as a base to explore.

This is a lovely characterful museum/hotel. The rooms are charming, if basic and we really enjoyed lighting the ready-laid fire in the bedroom. The place is really well suited for exploring the town and learning about Mayan history.

This was my third visit to Na Bolom, the previous two having been visits to the museum. This was first stay here. My room (Palenque) faces onto the gardens. It was cleaned spotlessly every day by the staff. Firewood & a heater are supplied, as the nights get chilly. The firewood is topped up every day if you use it (which I did). Being a little away from the road, it was quiet apart from fireworks for Día de Muertos. No shortage of hot water in the shower & sink. Alex was very attentive with the complementary breakfast (chopped melon, papaya, two slices of toast, butter, marmalade, huevos rancheros & as much coffee as you can drink: you pay extra for fruit juice). I enjoyed exploring the tree & flower species in the garden, which are labelled, and the adjacent plant/tree nursery. I also had a peek in the library, which, like everything else here, has a lot of old world charm.
