The most amazing stay during our whole time in Mexico (3 nights in total). The staff in the entire hotel is absolutely incredible, starting from the welcome desk, through the restaurant employees as well as the cleaning team. They were the nicest and most helpful in every situation we encountered. On top of this, they all really seemed to have fun during their time at work, which was great! We were offered an 8 hours early check-in, support to call a doctor / hospital during my partner's illness and help with booking an additional night and rescheduling buses when we were forced to stay longer than planned. Both our room and the entire hotel were impressively clean, which was not easy to maintain during the rainy period. Wi-Fi works great, there is hot water with great water pressure, rooms have AC & mosquito/bug nets. Very quiet. The hotel area is in the town centre, 5 minutes away from the ADO terminal, 7 min away from bigger markets, surrounded by restaurants. There is a possibility to book tours with a local company on arrival(*it would be great if there was a possibility to spend more than 3.5 hours in the Palenque Arch. Site for history freaks:). There was a possibility of free luggage storage in the hotel. PS ¡Gracias por apoyar mis intentos de hablar español!

Miguel the owner really makes this hotel 5* - I was a solo traveller to Xpujil and Calakmul, and he made me feel very at ease. He kindly answered my many questions about visiting Calakmul over message, organised my colectivo to the ruins, and was also very helpful with lots of info when I arrived - he was also friendly and welcoming, and even dropped me off to the centre twice which was very generous. The rooms are nice and clean, nice terrace and hammocks, no bugs, WiFi worked. The hotel is really well designed with a nice boutique feel. Plus some cute cats! I didn’t hear any noise except the neighbours’ roosters in the morning but it’s not a problem as I was waking up early to visit Calakmul - in fact it was helpful so I didn’t miss my alarm!

The location of the hotel is very good, right next to an ecopark and close enough to the ruins. The hotel is so Beautiful with a lot of nature in it and surrounding it. We heard the howling monkeys every night and day, even saw a family of them jumping across the trees in the hotel it was incredible. The rooms are very spacious and clean, there is a hammock which is very nice to relax after a whole day in the jungle. The people working at the hotel are very kind and helpful. Everything was just amazing,.

The front desk staff, the housekeeping staff were all excellent. Very helpful, and very willing to respond to any request. I liked having the coffee maker in the room, as I am an early riser. The restaurant was wonderful, the satff in the restaurant, were all polite, helpful, and you could not finish a cup of coffee, before it was filled back up again. Overall a wonderful experience.

A beautiful and atmospheric place surrounded by mountains, with friendly streets and good restaurants at fair prices. However, it’s very frustrating that the hiking trails are almost impossible to find; people come here to hike, yet the national park was closed. In the narrow streets, the car exhaust fumes linger, and it’s hard to breathe; the traffic is extremely heavy, even though the town could easily be explored on foot or by bike.

To warm. even in the winter month a the end of November!

To warm. even in the winter month a the end of November! The real problem, was Booking.com, when I choose One Way from Tux MX. to DFW, when I ticked proceed, Booking.com's AI toggled reserve to ROUND TRIP, But that did not show on "conformation" page, I just though the price was high! So leaving on date chosen, BUT, the 3:30pm was changed, by AI to 9:30AM same day, Or 6 hours AHEAD of original flight time! And to make that even more horrid: we are the get to the airport 3 hours ahead of, poofy 6:30 AM, I didn't the change of the total of 9 hours BEFORE. so my Cabby didn't know so WE BOTH MISSED THE FLIGHT, And I also found the AI double charging when I tried to book another ONE WAY, Tux to DWF, was $498.00, rather than half that! AND according to Booking.com new AI, I'd get to DWF, and hop right back on a plane, and return to Tux,MX 3 hours latter! Not this 75 year old man! So I be taking buses, that are not booked with Booking.Com's new AI! Booking.com did that same thing to my 72 year old sister, and their support couldn't FIX that double booking robbery, so I owe her for that AI robbery, also, making total loss, besides TIME, OVER $1000.00 USD! Since I didn't get my money back that I lost, of $1000.00 USD, I can't afford to book with Booking.com, any more, since their so-called support didn't return the overpayments, either!

It is a great site but difficult to get to and from. We wasted two whole days to arrive ( by plane from Oaxaca to Mexico City and then M City to Villahermosa and bus to Palenque). Then a whole 8 hrs journey to Merida. Would only recommend doing if you stay three weeks in Mexico or do just Palenque and another site.

Tapachula is a good overnight point for crossing the border with Guatemala at either Ciudad Hidalgo /Tecún Umán or Talisman /El Carmen. You can stock up on your favorite things before going to Guatemala where availability is scarce or imported goods cost a lot of money, but check first on import taxes or restrictions before buying stuff to take into Guatemala. There are a lot of supermarkets, Home Depot, Auto Zone, Walmart, Starbucks, lots of restaurants of all types and for all budgets. Downtown is lively, but traffic can be bad, airport outside of town has flies to many locations in Mexico.

The town is charming, the restaurants serving local cuisine are delightful and the summer climate is amazing. 15 degrees at night and 22 or so during the day with no humidity. There are many activities in or near San Cristobal and we enjoyed the local parks at Arcotete and Grutas del Mamut. Our dogs were able to run off-leash and explore the forest. We spent a month at a Spanish language school (San Cris) which was a wonderful place to improve our language skills.

Two nights is sufficient to go on a trip.

Two nights is sufficient to go on a trip. Industrial city nothing to see. Good Uber service to use for the trip to Sumidero canyon you don’t have to pay tour operators. Stay in newer Hilton on the Main Street. You can safely eat the cut fruits from the vendors on the street or the square. Crisp in a bag and they pour hot sauce on top, delicious. I had rice drink with cinnamon and it tasted of rice pudding. I wouldn’t go again if I had a choice I would go to Palenque.

This city is beautiful and great for walking. The sidewalks are not as difficult to navigate as in some other cities, but you still need to be careful and have grippy shoes for when it rains. The weather was lovely and cool; a nice break for us Texans in the month of June. We didn’t have nearly enough time here and we hope to return and explore more!
