Lounge out in the open-plan living, dining and kitchen space that opens out onto two sundecks, to make the most of all-day sun during the warmer months. Pour a cold drink, grab a good book or one of the board games and get right into holiday mode. If its a mid-winter getaway you have in mind, then Simon's Place has you covered with WiFi to stay connected and both a heat pump and wood-burning fireplace to keep you and your family toasty warm. Take the short 300m walk to the swimming and snorkelling beach or even take down the kayaks for a scenic adventure. Whale Watch Kaikōura and the Kaikōura Peninsula Walkway are just a few minutes walk away. While there are no shops in South Bay, it's only a short 8-minute drive to the centre of Kaikoura with all it's cafe's, restaurants and shops. Be sure to get out onto 'Tom's Track' a great 20-minute walk over the hill into Kaikoura with spectacular views well worth viewing. Abel Tasman National Park is the smallest National Park in New Zealand, but it is one of the most scenic. Abel Tasman boasts pristine white sandy beaches, tranquil estuaries and wonderful forested headlands. The Coastal Track is world famous, and visitors can choose to explore it on their own, or with a guide. Other ways to explore the coastline include sea kayaking, yacht, or water taxis. At the southern entrance to Abel Tasman National Park there is fantastic opportunity for visitors to swim with seals.
