If you're feeling adventurous, there are plenty of places to check out the island, such as the local wineries like Tantalus Estate, Mudbrick Restaurant and Vineyard, and Cable Bay Vineyards all within a 20-minute drive. As well as being located on a major bus route linking Onetangi, Ostend, Oneroa, and the Matiatia ferry terminal, travel around the island with ease. Waiheke Island is the largest island in the inner Hauraki Gulf, and combines the comfort of small town community with city life, as many residents commute daily to Auckland City. Oneroa, Little Oneroa, Palm Beach and Onetangi are white sandy beaches that are popular for swimming, surfing, and diving.
