The original homestead was known in the area for the beautiful cottage gardens and specimen trees. There are some beautiful examples of a hundred plus year old Kauri, Copper beech and magnificent magnolia trees which the tui love to visit. During its history, there have been many families live in the villa with each generation adding their love and attention to the property. The bedrooms that are lovingly decorated are named from the families or significant aspects of its history. There are many Victorian features in the villa including original tiled fireplaces, polished floors, leadlight windows and doors and high ceilings. The villa has been transformed to keep its original features but include modern facilities in the service rooms and ensuite bedrooms. The sweeping verandahs allow for privacy and intimate spaces for those wishing to enjoy the outdoors, beautiful gardens and views towards the Kaimai ranges. Situated in close proximity to a wide range of activities including Hobbiton, this villa is an opportunity for people to enjoy the experience of being on a farm in the beautiful lush Waikato.

We are proud and happy to share our house with you as a premium Bed and Breakfast and look forward to welcoming you. Having travelled extensively both within NZ and overseas, we have a passion for hospitality and showcasing New Zealand to the world. Exceeding our guest’s expectations and ensuring attention to detail is something we deliver during every guest experience. Being an ambassador for our region of Matamata and the greater Waikato is important to us and we have in-depth knowledge of key attractions such as the Hobbiton Movie Set, Wairere Falls, The Blue Water Springs, Hamilton Gardens along with some local hidden secrets that will delight and surprise you. Neil is a keen golfer, fly fisherman, photographer and cook, while Sue loves gardening, holistic health and her Wire-haired Foxy Ted. Sue works full time in the Bed and Breakfast and is supported by local staff who support her inside the homestead and within the amazing gardens. Neil splits his time between his current role running a consulting firm and the Villa.
