They're situated in Vila Real de Santo António, a small town with a grand appearance but a pleasant relaxed ambiance. The town is ideal for visitors who are wishing to experience the traditionally slow pace of life of southern Portugal. You can relax in the open-air cafes that surround the Praça Marquês de Pombal (just 2 minutes away from the flat) or gently stroll around the large marina and banks of the slow-flowing Rio Guadiana. Vila Real de Santo Antonio is a delightful Portuguese town, which is situated on the mighty Rio Guadiana, at the very eastern edge of the Algarve. The town has a peaceful, unhurried ambiance but has a truly unique appearance, resembling more Lisbon than its close neighbors, with a grand central plaza and decorative Pombaline architecture. At the heart of the town is the impressive Praca Marques of Pombal plaza, there is the charming marina and following the Rio Guadiana is a pleasant walk to the beautiful beaches. Our house is located in one of the safest locations possible. Right in front of our home, within view, in the same street, is the GNR (National Republical Guard). Even more, behind our home (in the same block), is the local police station. While the parking immediately in front of our home is paid parking during certain hours, there is free parking, with no restrictions, within only a short 3-5 minute walk. Guests are still very welcome to park temporarily right in front of our home to unload the luggage, or during the permitted hours. Our home is so central, that it's within short walking distance to practically everything - restaurants, cafes, marina etc.
