As we can not do it we have decided to travel inside Lisbon by hosting travelers that can share with us all the excitement and adventure of a journey. We want to provide you not only an Unexpected Place to Sleep (UPsleep) but also a great experience in our beautiful city.

During the day Bairro Alto is more like a village than a town: children play in the street, the neighbors talk from one house to another, people greet each other when they pass and everybody knows everybody. At night, Bairro changes and becomes the center of Lisbon fun, with everyone in the street toasting to friendship. The street Rua Diário de Notícias has this name due to the newspaper that for decades brought the news to the Portuguese, inhabitants of Lisbon and of those living in one of the most typical neighborhoods in town, the Bairro Alto. It's here where you can still find the old lady standing at the window waiting to know about what's on the newspapers headlines, if the neighbor became finally a grandmother or just waiting for those news that only those that stay at the windows are able to "catch".
