Our apartment in Campo de Santa Clara is located in the east of the city and belongs to the parish of São Vicente. It owes its name to the Clarissas Monastery, built there in 1294 and which was destroyed by the 1755 earthquake that resulted in the almost complete destruction of the city of Lisbon. It is a neighborhood of typical houses, with residents who were born and raised in the area, but also with some new habitants looking for the pure Lisbon experience. It's a very Alfama like zone but add the views! The strength of this neighborhood is the breathtaking landscapes as it is almost entirely on a hill. But we cannot fail to mention the famous Feira da Ladra, an unmissable fair that has been held for years every Tuesday and Saturday right next to Campo de Santa Clara. Typically it is a market for antiques, clothing and second-hand items. Just around the corner is the National Pantheon, a majestic building of Baroque architecture, and the place where the tombs of great names in the history of Portugal are located, which also offers privileged views over the city's historic area.
