The cottage was restored in 2009 redesigned adding a small front and rear porch, removing the interior walls of the living room and adding insulation and real bead board. Our properties receive constant maintenance under our Great or Must Replace by 8 program. In May of 2019 our 10 year effort to remove all turf grass and replanting the entire property with 100% Florida Native Plants and Trees was cited by the National and Florida Wildlife Associations declaring the landscape " Wildlife Habitat #230053." In 2023, we received the "TAMPA AWARD" for Vacation Rentals for a 5th. consecutive year in a row. Judy is a German native who has lived all over the United States (Connecticut, California, Florida, Indiana, New Mexico) for the past two decades and is excited to call Florida her home (for the second time). She has a passion for traveling, and has visited four continents so far with plans for making it all seven continents. She enjoys her pets, traveling, and any kind of outdoor activity, including camping, hiking, and skiing (though this can be rather challenging in Florida at times). She has stayed in many vacation rentals across the world, and is excited to host travelers from around the world at Erehwon Retreat.

This cottage was the first Vacation Rental in OLD SEMINOLE HEIGHTS. As of 7/30/21 we have hosted 2059 quests from 46 nations. When the cottage was built prohibition and women's right to VOTE were in the 3rd. year, the economy was "hot", Louise Brooks bobbed hair and the “Marcel Wave” were in vogue. Seminole Heights was cattle grazing open land or citrus groves prior to 1901. In 1901 Tampa Electric ran a trolley line on Central Avenue from downtown to Sulphur Springs and its Resort for a 5 Cent ride. Many came to bathe in the springs to aid with ailments. T. Roy Young had 40 acres and watching folks ride along his property line, he suddenly had a dream to develop Tampa’s first suburb - Seminole Heights. Today Old Seminole Heights is Nationally recognized as a Historic District and under strict control of the City of Tampa's Architectural Review Commission, thereby insuring its historic character is preserved. Well over 2,000 homes have been restored and the area is a very HOT area to live. It is safe, quiet.
