  • Your museum apartment check in 31 July check out 1 august. 3 adults. I see the queen bed is is a separate private room but where is the single bed please? Is it in the lounge and kitchen and living room? Ant the toilet, is that off the main living area or an en-suite off the bedroom. Look forward to your reply. Nancy
Hello.... yes. The Museum Apartment has a queen in a private room (with door) then the living room has a twin size bed as well as a couch that folds out as a full size bed. The bathroom has a full bath, shower, sink and toilet. The kitchen has a stove, fridge, microwave and kitchen table. The Apartment is the full floor above the Museum - the old one-room school house that last hosted classes in 1971. The building itself dates back to 1936 and the Apartment is where the teachers used to live when they taught school downstairs. It sits just behind the Roadhouse and we actually lease the property from the Historical Society Museum. Guests of the Apartment also are provided with complimentary passes to the Museum downtstairs. -Trisha

  • Greetings, Is there an actual bath tub in the Museum Apartment? Is there a laundry facility on site? Cost? Thank you
Yes...there is a bathtub with shower. Coin-op laundry facility is located in the main Roadhouse building (you have a key to access); coins, soap, dryer sheets are placed in the Apartment and whatever you use is added to your room stay.

  • I am looking for a place to stay for 2 people over new years to see the northern lights. A friend suggested you establishment and to ask for the cabin in the back. Is this available and what is the pricing? are there other activities other than the Northern Lights? Thank you Rhonda
Hello Rhonda, We only have one room left for New Years Eve and that's Room #1 with a double bed on the bottom and a bunk up top and you use a shared bath. It is $70.20 for 2 persons and it is also available for New Years Day as well. As far as the Northern Lights, it's up to the weather and the current sun storms. Other things to do: some stores are open for shopping, a few venues in town have special New Years Eve dinners and a couple of the bars/pubs have a big party. We are fairly mellow here, with a kick back pop open the champagne at midnight. If you really want a cabin try our sister company Trapper John's Cabins for a true historic cabin experience. It is best to book direct. Hope this helps with your planning, Mel at the Roadhouse Desk

In the old days the Talkeetna Roadhouse served the community by hauling out goods via horse and carriage to miners and trappers in the nearby hills. Now modern day adventurers, local residents and visitors alike, come to us for huge home-cooked breakfasts, lively conversation, strong coffee, gigantic cinnamon rolls, hand rolled bagels, Roadhouse Breakfast: Fresh Bread, eggs, bacon, toast, 1902 Sourdough Hotcakes hearty soups, fresh breads, pies, cakes, cookies and a healthy dose of frontier hospitality. Our 1902 Sourdough Hotcakes are bigger than the plates on which we serve them and the Roadhouse Standard (scrambled eggs, home fries, extra thick peppered bacon, honey whole wheat toast, juice and bottomless coffee/tea) is all you need for a full day of Talkeetna adventure. If you do get hungry later there's always Granny's Chocolate Potato Cake, homemade apple pie, rhubarb pie, BluBarb (yes, blueberry and rhubarb) pie, gooey cream cheese brownies, tender gingersnaps... well, we don't want to make you too hungry just yet! The slower pace of winter enables us to accommodate groups for special private meals, either breakfasts, lunches or suppers.
