Nice and friendly staff, always happy to help. Spacious rooms with nice wooden bunk beds. Lockers in common area so you don’t have to disturb your roomies too much. Well equipped kitchen + extra tea making are. Cosy and inviting living room. They really make you feel at home from the beginning and also attract a nice type of traveler. Free coffee in the morning and free tea (nice selection) all day. I extended my stay twice - what else to say?

This hostel has such a vibe, and it’s all thanks to Travis, the manager. It’s small but that’s what made it so social and everyone I was there with felt like family. There’s activities a few days a week including trips to the volcano and dinner nights.

Great hostel in Hilo. Location is perfect, within walking distance from supermarket, restaurants and the beach. There is parking space available at the back of the hostel for the rental car. Only a 10 minute drive from the airport. Friendly staff. Nice common room. Clean bathroom. There is free coffee available in the hostel, but I strongly recommend to also have a coffee from the place across the street! Hilo is a great place to travel from to explore the rest of the island.

Lovely hostel. Very secure, rooms got separate door codes, lockboxes to store stuff much appreciated. Communual kitchen & area got all kinds of small utensils you might need, from cooking utensils to shared food (spices, noodles, shares from other guests) and useful things like sunscreen. Plenty of informative brochures about the area laid out, located right in the city, with only short walks to grocery store, park, beach or bustling inner city. AC kept all areas nice cool.

- Super nice, helful and friendly staff - it was one of the few places where you can see the receptionist (handling everything) really likes working there - Top kitchen / kitchen facilities, good coffee, nice common area inside and outside - one of the rare affordable private rooms on this island - super location, there is a good restaurant/pub right beside the hostel - free parking right behind hostel - exceptionally clean everywhere and genrally it hat a good vibe and felt more like a hotel then a hostel, i guess its because its spacious with not too many rooms/beds and the amazing hospitality by the receptionist - 2 shared bathrooms (only 1 with shower) didnt seem enough at beginning but it was enough since some dorms have their own 'private shared' bathroom ensuite - big room with comfy beds and good aircon - There are two hostels in hilo, id definitely recommend this here (THE BIG ISLAND HOSTEL), its way more comfortable and clean then the hilo bay hostel

Very helpful and welcoming staff. I haven't see such a clean hostel before. They had a nice system in the kitchen using labels on the food the guest wanted to store in the cupboard and the fridge. There was also free coffee and tea for the guests to prepare. This hostel had a very pleasant atmosphere and the common area was lovely. I very much enjoyed my time there.
