This light & airy retreat boasts wooden floors & high ceilings. Picture yourself curling up with a good book or enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning sunlight that floods through the windows. A dedicated office nook with high-speed WiFi & Solar is designed with the digital nomad in mind, ensuring you can stay connected & focused during your stay This 1 bedroom open plan cottage is on the same premises as the primary home of your friendly hosts, Craig & Katya. Although on the same property, it is private with a separate entrance. There is parking for 1 car in the driveway behind an electric gate. The cottage also has an alarm system & panic button linked with a security company (although Claremont is a very safe area of Cape Town & this is just for peace of mind) This is an eco-friendly property with the entire household running on solar electricity, (no "load-shedding", with municipal back-up in winter occasionally used), greywater irrigation for plants & rainwater collection. We also compost & recycle. We have a cosy open fireplace to create some ambience & keep you warm in winter. The kitchen is fully equipped with a full-size gas stove & oven, pots, pans, implements etc ideal for long stays. There is a small store-room off the cottage which allows big suitcases etc to be put out of the way.

Craig & Katya are both healthcare workers employed in the public health sector in Cape Town since 2008. They run this rental cottage which is attached to their primary residence & enjoy hosting guests from around the world and giving recommendations on where to visit.

The Claremont area near the house... Claremont is the perfect place to base your trip to Cape Town - a super safe area that is close to all the best sights in CT including Table Mountain, Lions Head, the Waterfront, Oranjezicht Food Market, and Seapoint. The surrounding area is a dream for the digital nomad who wants to "work from home" at the cottage to pop out for a quick lunch/coffee/drink/snack - 550metre walk to a small group of shops with includes our favourite restaurant (The Eatery Woodfired Grill), grocery store Woolworths (for the Brits this is the same as M&S), hairdresser, pharmacy & a variety of small boutique stores selling things like fresh fish, biltong, assorted nuts etc - 600metre walk to our favourite coffee shop & breakfast place (Starlings) or Sushi take-away (Edo Sushi) - Walk a bit further (1km) to get to a wonderful Vietnamese spot called "Pho", the Lebanese Bakery (selling amazing Falafel Sandwiches) & a Portuguese bakery (Coimbra) Distance to popular sites: - Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens 5km - The Old Biscuit Mill Market 8km For the Active: - Table Mountain hiking trail start points = - Newlands Forest 5km - Rhodes memorial (blockhouse) 6km - Cecilia Forest 8km - There is a great free community run every Saturday nearby (parkrun) - Ask Craig on the app for his Strava running routes he takes directly from our home - Crossfit "Impi" Gym walking distance (550metres)
