Amazing hotel close to Nikko. Breakfast and dinner were the best ones we had in Japan. The staff was super nice and the facilities were great.

Host is extremely friendly and ready to suggest local restaurants and other places to go. Large room was comfortable and AC worked good. Loved the little onsen bath. The location was beautiful, hidden off the historic road lined by giant cedar trees.

Established in 1666, Honke Bankyu is housed in a registered historical building. The Japanese rooms feature traditional decor, futon bedding and a flat-screen TV.

Amazing nature, very delicious dinners (we stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed 2 different dinner menus). Very friendly staff. Also loved onsen (hot springs bath) experience!

Lot of private quiet space after two weeks of city life in Japan. Excellent large house with excellent very friendly host. We did a samurai experience including tea ceremony and Ken even arranged birthday cake for my so. Offered to drive us to the restaurant he arranged for the evening where we had a great sushi diner.

Perfectly located in Nikko for visiting the Shrines (despite being a bit remote from the 'city centre'). We enjoyed the quiet place with a lot of nice amenities. Staff was very helpful and friendly. In addition, two of our group forgot their passport in the safe when checking out... the staff was exceptional to make sure we could receive passports my mail and thus could continue our travels without any trouble.

We had the most wonderful time at the hotel! Staff were very professional and welcoming, breakfast was outstanding, the whole stay very relaxing! Onsent was incredible. The hotel is located by beautiful lake, great for walks and long runs!
