Fairfield in Nikko was an exceptional stay for me, when compared to some other accommodations in Japan, especially due to the room's size, which was definitely on the larger side. The amenities looked brand new to me, as the entire hotel did. I also enjoyed the common spaces which have tasteful design and the outdoor space / terrace with the mountain view.

Great location, wonderful onsen

This hotel was amazing, the bed was comfortable, the room was big enough for me, the view from my room was simply incredible. Location was great too, and a konbini across the street? Score.

Onsen facilities are superb. Room views towards the mountains and streams, very beautiful.

The room is basic but has everything needed for a one-night stay. The bed is not very large. Amenities are included. What really stands out—and what we highly recommend—is having both breakfast and dinner at the hotel. The chef prepares everything deliciously with fresh, local ingredients, and his friendliness makes a big difference. There are no convenience stores nearby. Keep in mind that it’s about a 14-minute walk from the bus station.

Staff were very friendly Breakfast was very nice and great Dinner options also. Room was comfy with a nice size onsen and shower on the balcony. Lovely old Isuzu car as you walk into the building.

Lovely hotel within a hot spring area. The outdoor onsen’s are wonderful.

Very conveniently located right next to Shinkyo Bridge and within a short walk of Toshogu and Rinnoji Temple. Check-in was seamless. The room was excellent, with views of the Daiya River from the windows (and from the inn’s downstairs café as well). I visited in winter, but can easily imagine how beautiful the scenery would be in other seasons, especially during the autumn foliage. The owner couple was extremely warm and welcoming. I would definitely love to return.

Small hotel, located 20 mins from the world heritage bridge stop. Generally a very good location, many things around to see. The staff is polite, we left our luggage after the checkout to go hike for almost 7 hours there (were expecting up to 5 hours) and they allowed it - very nice 🙂 The onsen (public bath) is clean, hot and with some bushes so it's not just stone walls. Breakfast and dinner were overall great and we were full after breakfast to go for 7 hour hike to the temples and were not much hungry until dinner at 7pm 👌🏻

Incredible experience from start to finish. I only stayed one night, but I felt immediately at home and could not have been happier. The private, in-room onsen was the highlight of the room without question. Such a wonderful way to unwind and I spent hours in there. They keep the onsen very hot, hotter than most I've been to, but it's easy to add cold water to cool it down and if you go too far, a call to the front desk will have hot water piping back in. I enjoyed soaking while watching the snow fall through the open window - and was very comfortable! The room was extremely spacious with sliding partitions for each area, so if traveling with a partner or family, it would be easy to create privacy when needed. In-room amenities were great. Nice lotions, soaps, etc. Lighting in the room was very nice - I believe about 6 different settings you can choose from to create the mood you're looking for. The meals were absolutely top notch and unforgettable, both the dinner and breakfast. I can't say enough good things but the food surpassed all my expectations. Simply lovely. Checking in and out was very smooth and simple. It was easy to catch a taxi from directly outside Tobu Nikko station and when it was time to leave, the staff called a taxi for me.
