Ideally situated in the centre of Barranquilla, Hotel Dorado Plaza Alto Prado features air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, free private parking and room service. Great stay at this hotel. Wifi was strong never lost a signal, and streamed Netflix without an issue. Hotel is new and modern. Comfortable beds. Breakfast was pretty good. I will give one piece of advice to anyone coming here though, if you find that your air conditioner is not properly working just go to the front desk and let them know. They seem to have some kind of energy saving central air system that does not let your room cool to your temperature. I went to the front desk thinking the unit was not working but that is not the case. Once you tell the front desk they go into their computer system and take off the block which allows you to use the AC to its full capacity.

Alto Prado is a contemporary 5-star hotel situated in Barranquilla´s exclusive country club district. It offers stylish rooms with free Wi-Fi and an outdoor pool with panoramic city views. Location, staff was a pleasant and attentive. Breakfast was perfect

The staff was very attentive and did everything they could to take care of us. The beds were comfortable, and the place was very clean and well cared for. As a bonus, there were board games and activities at the patio, a trampoline for the kids, netflix on the TV, and day passes to the nearby beach club. One day we also paid for day passes for some family members to hang out at the hotel with us for the day, and we had a very nice family gathering.

Our stay was significantly impacted by several issues. The undisclosed indoor camera in the hallway, positioned above the front door, felt intrusive and was particularly unsettling. Furthermore, the bathrooms were problematic: one toilet consistently backflowed instead of flushing properly, and both were excessively noisy. The mattresses were old, dirty, and uncomfortable, detracting significantly from our comfort. While the apartment boasts an amazing view and the building itself is very comfortable, the interior furnishings are dated. The presence of 1990s-era furniture, including an old DVD player, and a non-smart TV in the living room meant there was no option for streaming music or entertainment, which felt out of step with modern expectations. This apartment has strong potential, but these issues considerably hindered our experience.

I stayed here during the carnival, it was a lovely place to retreat and get some rest, but also had superb common areas where I met some new friends! The staff did my laundry and even got a chewing gum out of my trousers.

From the moment we arrived, Alberto went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed—whether it was arranging activities, showing us around town, or preparing incredible meals. We first discovered Azul Rest through a booking platform but had the chance to visit in person before confirming our stay. What truly drew us in was the inviting family atmosphere, the deep connection to the local community, and the villa’s exceptional quality. The property is only about two years old and offers top-notch amenities, including air conditioning, a washing machine, and excellent WiFi—perfect for digital nomads. The location is ideal for kitesurfing, with direct access to the beach and The Point at Salinas del Rey. The wind conditions were outstanding, and the waves were excellent. Another standout aspect was the food. Every meal was thoughtfully prepared, providing a delicious taste of local flavors. Azul Rest is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for comfort, adventure, and an authentic experience. Highly recommended!
