The indoor bath was amazing - spacious and the hot spring was hot. Perfect temperature. The open-air bath was nice, but the hot spring was lukewarm. I guess it was because the weather outside is too cold?! The lobby and seating areas are very relaxing and beautiful. The ryokan let guests take photos of the indoor and open-air baths before check-out at 10am.

Very spacious and beautifully presented rooms in traditional Ryokan in the middle of Shibu Onsen. Comfortable Tatami beds. Great to have private toilet. The onsite outdoor private Onsen and inside (male/female) onsens were fantastic. Loved the supplied Yukata and Geta for the Onsens. Key supplied for all public onsens through town. The owners were so helpful and kind, driving us to and from snow monkeys and to Yudanaka station for our train. Enjoyed the traditional home made breakfast delivered to our room at reasonable price in beautiful bento box.

Aburaya Tousen offers luxurious contemporary Japanese-style accommodation with an amazing 11 types of hot-spring baths and free WiFi. Très jolie chambre, style typique japonais. Confortable. Onsen sympa. Personnel très sympa.

Very comfortable, clean and traditional apartment. The staff is highly professional, kind and speaks little but enough English! I probably have never had such a great food from a half board booking! This accommodation is a 10/10 even when excluding the proximity to Snow Monkey Park (30 min walk door to monkey).

L’établissement 志賀高原 白い温泉 渓谷の湯 vous accueille à Yamanouchi, à 14 km de ce lieu d’intérêt : Parc aux singes de Jigokudani. The location and scenery were beautiful. The room was tasteful and luxurious. The food was delicious and authentic. The staff were lovely, it felt like family and their service and attention was flawless.

It is by far the most outstanding place we have stayed in throughout Japan. The level of service excellence, the amenities and the attention to detail reaches heights unmatched by any other place we have seen or stayed at.

Situé à Yamanouchi et offrant une vue sur la montagne, l’établissement Hotarutei Villas propose une terrasse, un restaurant et un bar. A fantastic location and amazing Villla! The private onset was amazing and the hosts were all brilliant! I would highly recommend!!

L’établissement Hotel Higashidate se trouve à Yamanouchi, à 19 km de ce lieu d’intérêt : Parc aux singes de Jigokudani. Such an amazing location in ShigaKogan! We had a top floor onsen room that was spacious, comfortable, modern with the luxuries included (massage chair, private onsen, and private dining with a 10+ course dinner every night - some of the BEST Japanese food I have eaten). While the staff had limited English they were beyond accommodating and were happy to for us to use translation apps and appreciative of our poor Japanese language skills. The staff were lovely, friendly and very helpful in arranging our luggage transport and assisting with our departure. Some of the floors of the hotel are a touch dated...but it added to the charm of our stay and overall experience. We will definitely be back :)
