The landlord and wife are extremely friendly and helpful, we stayed 4 days and had dinner there. It was a menu with several dishes, very tasty. The breakfast was also really good, fresh fruit, different types of bread, and served at this fantastic terrace directly at the river.The location at the river was very good, near to Kandy, but quiet and peaceful…. The owners and their helper are some of the most hospitable, helpful, and genuinely kind people I have ever met. I stayed with them both before and during the cyclone, and honestly, I don't know how I would have gotten through it without them. Even with no water or electricity, they made sure we had food, clean water, and anything else we needed. They treated every guest like family. Every morning they’d check in with the biggest smiles, always ready to help or share stories. They’re incredibly knowledgeable, so proud of their country, and genuinely interested in every single person who stays with them. At one point they said, “You are all our sons and daughters,” and they meant it. And the home itself? Stunning. I stayed in the deluxe room and felt like an absolute princess. The bed was super comfy, the room was huge and beautifully decorated, and the balcony overlooked jackfruit and coconut trees. The house sits up on a peaceful hill—about a 30-minute walk or a quick 7-minute tuk-tuk to the city centre—and it is so worth it for the quiet and the views. The owners also have great connections and can arrange pretty much anything: transfers, day trips, excursions… they even ordered dinner in for me one night. They make everything so easy. And of course, their angel dog Bella only makes the whole experience sweeter. Despite staying through literally the worst cyclone in Sri Lanka’s recent history, I’m leaving this homestay with such a positive experience — and that is 100% because of the owners and their helper. This place is truly special.
