Nice, natural landscaping that let's you feel immersed in the Hawaiian rainforest. Feels very secluded and private, while also feeling safe and welcoming. Its walking distance to a black sand, clothing optional, beach. I will definitely book here again when visiting the Big Island. I would feel safe here as a solo traveler. Stephen greeted us when we arrived to the property and was so welcoming. I immediately felt at ease in his presence. He gave us a tour and showed us to our rooms, let us know how to reach him if we needed anything. Our smoke alarm was going off one night and he came right over, checked it out and swapped the battery, fixing the problem. I traveled with a friend and we each had separate rooms. The house feels more home like, relaxing front porch, solid wood furniture, and everything you'd need. Both rooms were clean and beds comfortable. At first, I thought my bed may be too soft, but I slept SO good and woke with no pains, feeling refreshed, so it must have been just right. Bath and beach towels were in our rooms, a bathrobe, a list of hosted and local activities we may be interested in, and a little bowl of snacks too. I also appreciated they had sunscreen and bug spray available.

Hotel was located at the more quiet part of Kalakua Ave. Walkable to restaurants, stores etc without the noise - great sound proofing, our room was nice and quiet despite having neighbors on both sides - we could see the Friday night fireworks from our balcony - love how there is built in filtered water for us by our sink!! They change their filters periodically as well - convenient island market downstairs and dean & deluca cafe -pool was clean and we love how there is a separate pool for kids and adults so it wasn’t as crowded. - the bellhops on the first floor was so kind & meticulous.
