We had a great stay at The Halyard. The hotel is in an excellent position to explore Liverpool, it's a nice walk down to the centre of town plus the Dock area. Also close by are both cathedrals, The Baltic Triangle and Chinatown, as well as Lime Street and Liverpool Central train stations. The rooms were comfortable, and very quiet at night. They also provided a good selection of teas, coffee and some biscuits - I only wish I had the time to use these even more, as we were mostly out and about. The staff were very service-minded and attentive to our needs, helping us with tips and answering our questions. There was a very nice atmosphere all around the hotel, in the reception, bar and breakfast/restaurant area. The breakfast was excellent, with good quality products. Very nice to be served the main part of breakfast, with different choices and possibilities to subtract or add/mix according to personal preferences.

Anfield

“This is Anfield”. Three simple words welcome nervous visiting teams to the home of Liverpool FC, England’s most decorated football club. Touch the famous tunnel sign as you enter this revered arena on a stadium tour. However, you can’t beat real match-day euphoria. Join the red sea of scarves in the Kop stand for a spine-tingling chorus of “You’ll Never Walk Alone”.

First football stadium I visited other than my local Filbert Street! My first visit was some 30+ years ago! Wow, what a difference, it stands for everything the club has achieved with fan memorials after the tragedy at Hillsborough. Lovely visit and a little time for quiet contemplation. RIP to those who lost their lives. Party for those still here supporting their LFC at Anfield with all the history!

Nice enough stadium, large enough but the fans severely lack atmosphere. Also a hard language to understand while guarding your pockets from the local tea le*fs. Decent side with a small lad Ben Doak by far the outstanding world talent on show..!!!

Great service with excellent staff. Stadium was hard to find but with some help from locals and fantastic bus drivers, achieved a lovely but somewhat amazing visit. The stadium is so much better than I could have imagined.

Take a bus ride (#17) up to Walton Road to visit a pub there...

Take a bus ride (#17) up to Walton Road to visit a pub there if you want a feel for the 'true' Liverpool. Try this on match day, either Anfield Stadium or Everson Stadium, which are a few blocks up the hill. Don't book the King Harry's(now the Brownlow) for rooms, you'll regret it. See if you can find a room at the St. Hilda. Also the Springfield Inn. You will find a lot of karioke, and a little live music. There is a great spacious, english-style, pub-restaurant just down the road. There is a great big park next to Anfield Stadium. Find the Leeds Canal and take a long walk back toward Liverpool. There are no deralict men pretending to be homeless in anfield.

The house is well renovated and very easy to locate from the Birkenhead Docks. It was perfect for what we needed it for. Good walking location to Anfield and parking outside the door. It was warm and the bedding and towels were of hotel standard. Efficient check in and check out and a message from the host to ensure we had all we needed for our stay. Hassle free.

Host was very accommodating and responsive to any questions I had. While you do have to share the restroom with others this is a good deal in regards to having your own room rather than paying about the same price sharing a room in a hostel with others. I also toured Anfield which is a 10 min walk which worked perfectly!

Great location as within walking distance to Anfield and the celebratory tour bus route which was our reason for visiting. The shrine to Liverpool is amazing, great place to be able to watch the game and relax with the pool table and dart board there is something for everyone. Apartment we had was spacious for three of us. Off road parking available and plenty of street parking if needed.

Great location, close to Liverpool lime street station. In front of Christmas market of the city. Staff very friendly and helpful you can ask the staff to open an emergency exit to access directly from the hotel to rail station 😀. If you want to attend the football match at anfield, the express bus No.917 almost opposite the hotel.
