Possibly the best museum in the world! And Free! Go for 3 hours at a time max. You will burn out before then. Do a quick Google search for what may be your interests. There is no way you could see the entire museum in a week even.
Sometimes I travel to London only to pay a visit to the British Museum. This is an amazing place, and you should be prepared to visit only parts of it at a time. Take the hall of enlightenment. That hall alone would be a very important museum by itself. So take 1 max 2 hours pick 1-2 rooms and spend your time there, do not try to cover everything. The museum has a free entry, you can come back another time and see some other parts as well. Sadly, the special exhibitions, are IMHO usually not worth the price they are asking. It is probably unfair to compare it to everything else that is outside, but as a tourist visiting London, there is so much to explore in the museum, that you will not really miss all that much if you do not go to the special exhibitions. The northern entrance is usually less crowded so you can get through the (frankly ridiculous) security checks faster.
OMG, it's massive and has things I've read about like the Elgin Marbles and Rosetta stone. Must see and then come back and see again. Special exhibits are good too. The restaurant was expensive and had a small range of items to eat.
You need a good few hours to browse, maybe a whole day. Eat a hearty breakfast. If walking/mobility is tough you can use a complimentary push chair/wheel chair - Security will take a 30 mins getting in, families and disabled/elderly folks have an express lane. Go early - enjoy your day!
Make sure you have good walking shoes on. Also - take pictures of some of the exhibits. You can bring your own food to the cafe area in the main arena. There are some good books for sale there, as well.
This one will eat away few days of yours if you are a museum person. Huge it is and one of the best I have seen. Free entry to the museum but I am sure, you will come out rich with the amount of knowledge and information it provides you. Must visit.
Location was absolutely fantastic! Directly opposite LSHTM and 10 minute walk away from the British Museum. The sound proofing of the windows must have been excellent as I've stopped around this area before and had issues with the noise and did not that night. The staff were all very helpful and pleasant. There was a good number of decent pillows and it's always nice to be able to actually open your windows a decent amount. Shower had decent water pressure and a steady temperature.
The breakfast was excellent, the location for central London is very good. The property had a character feel about it, rather than the sterile atmosphere of the normal hotel chains. Value for money you couldn't argue with, on the whole a good option for those looking at a no frills stay within walking distance of London St Pancras train station, British Museum & West End. Happy to recommend.
Staff were super amicable and went out of their way to make me feel welcome and comfortable in the hotel. I was automatically moved to their sister hotel before arrival (Grange White Hotel) and it has a lovely private garden nestled in the back of the British Museum. They are basically the same property one block away from each other (I've stayed at both).
Hotel's central location was convenient - walking distance to Covent Garden and Soho areas. British Museum is also nearby. Some of the staff who worked the front desk were very helpful and courteous. The cafe downstairs had a good selection of pastries in the morning.
The room was big and the staff was very helpful. They put a baby bed in the room so we didn't have to bother to carry one. The english breakfast was excellent. Very nice location a few minutes from the British museum in a calm neighborhood.
Great location with a bus that stopped right outside, and around the corner from the British Museum & a short walk to laundromats. In-room furnace that we can adjust. Coffee and tea is available in the room. Lots of closet storage.
Great location a quick walk from good tube connections and major sights. We walked to the British Museum and the Wallace Collection. Staff were lovely, room very pretty, comfortable, and quiet. Would definitely come back here.
The bed was comfortable and the lounge accommodating. The location is amazing, surrounded by great places to eat and not far from the British Museum.
Older building, well maintained and in a great location near the British Museum. Breakfast was excellent with many choices. Very helpful manager.
