The weather was against us when we visited the castle and although the room was lovely, the bed was not the most comfortable, which did mar our visit slightly. The castle and grounds are lovely and the restaurant for breakfast and the evening meal was also very good. The only downside to our visit, apart from the weather and the bed!, was that we arrived fairly early and was not allowed access into the castle as it opened later, the restaurant was also closed so we could not have something to eat there while we waited and we were unable to book into the room early, which was a shame considering the weather (not the castles fault obviously!). But overall, this is a nice place to visit and it is magical to stay on the grounds.
Beautiful destination for a day trip! Lots of beautiful gardens, birds walking around you. When you buy a ticket, you can use it for the whole year, which is a bonus. I've been there once and planning to come back.
Beyond outstanding a must visit place full of history and easily understood informative staff made my personal experience and that of my friends from India that more enjoyable ,very accommodating loved it so much will definitely make use of my annual pass. Thank you...
At least that’s a beautiful, beautiful venue especially on a lovely day which we chose. Nice restaurant overlooking the castle with attentive staff. Absolutely beautiful visitors. We can’t recommend this place highly enough for a day out .
My first visit to the Castle it was very interesting with a lovely 15 minute walk along the river to the castle with plenty of wildlife. Great for kids to spot the different birds. The castle itself was interesting to walk around with lots of information on the history and staff were very friendly and informative. Well worth a visit.
Weird bloody outfit, walked in over the pathways as suggested by local in village. could not get admittance to the castle unless we paid a full years subscription to some historic society, 50 quid. basically got told to piss off, so we did.
