What an amazing place. If you make a stop here, which I would recommend, plan on a minimum of a half a day. From the beautiful gardens to the castle itself we left with amazing pictures, lots of laughs and wonderful memories.
Walk around the grounds before going to castle. The trees are beautiful along with all the flowers and shrubs and sculptures. Also visit the poison garden behind the castle. Locals take their daily walks thru the grounds. The stairs to the top of the castle where the stone is is very steep and narrow but it's a fun thing to do on your trip to Ireland.
It is well worthwhile spending a few hours here, as well as the ancient castle with the Blarney stone to kiss there is the very interesting half hour tour of the lovely country house and extensive gardens and woods each with different themes. There was much more there than I'd expected and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
It was beautiful and the grounds are beautiful. If you wonder if kissing the blarney stone is worth it-YES it is. Make the climb, it's not that bad. And the views and photo's you get are great at the top.
The Apartment is ideally located, not too far from the main hustle and bustle of Cork. But far enough, tucked off any busy road. Code for the property was easily delivered and the room was very clean and well kept. It was ideal for our one night stay for exploring. Sine is a quirky pub and getting to Blarney Castle was super easy from St Patricks Street. Buses come frequently!
Great location ti explore the Cork. We had a lot of dinner options in Douglas and a quick ride Titanic museum and down town Cork and Blarney Castle.
Try to get to Blarney castle a bit before opening time or right on the dot. Several coaches can turn up packed full of people just after 9:30am which meant it took us about an hour to actually get up to the top of the castle due to the long wait behind hundreds of people. It was a Monday when we went so we thought a 10am start would be ok.
