Incredible! So much information and history. Descriptions of exhibits were well written and interesting. And the reenactment videos was super cool! When you enter the castle, before you go up the elevator, the staff informs everyone that no photos are to be taken on certain floors (3F & 4F). There are signs everywhere that say no photos, and also a staff member walking around the designated area with a sign that says “no photos.” Unfortunately, many people were still taking pictures in the “no photo” areas, which was very rude & inconsiderate. Be respectful & don’t be those people.
Its wonderful from the outside - but the inside has been gutted and is now a museum - it mainly outlines the history of the castle and the family of the man who built it. Its a nice experience but I would have adored to see some original interior (even rebuilt)
Give this a miss - it’s pretty from the outside but it’s very very commercialised (it’s a new reconstruction, all replicas). If you’ve travelled through Japan and you’ve seen original architecture, Osaka Castle will not impress.
You can't take strollers in, and while they let you take the elevator to the fifth floor, they won't let you take it back down. We walked to the viewing platform on Level 8 and had to walk all 8 floors of stairs down to the ground carrying a kid! Something to be aware of.
best spot to take pictures of castle during late afternoon till night time: top corner of moat at North west location. Especially with that blooming Sakura tree by it's side. great for taking serting sun from same spot also.
Amazing castle and we even saw the tiniest bit of snow during our visit in December. Make sure to check on a local website to ensure the castle is open. It was closed during our visit but we had a great time absorbing the castle's magnificience and walking around the grounds.
The location was convenient. There are 2 entrances of subway stations just a block from the hotel so the walk was not far. It is north of dotonburi so not too far from the touristy attractions. It was nice that Osaka castle was right behind the hotel. Also it's great that there are 2 convenience stores right next to the hotel. Family mart is next to the hotel and there is another one right across the street. There are also a few restaurants within a block of the hotel so that was nice when I got back late in the evening for dinner.
The staff was very accommodating and helpful. They helped us call for taxi going to JR Tennoji Station on the way back to the airport and also allowed us to leave our luggage safely at the hotel upon check out while we visited Osaka Castle. The hotel is within walking distance of Osaka Castle. It is also located near the Tanimachi 4-chome subway station with the Tanimachi and Chuo Lines on the Osaka Metro. The hotel is good value for the price we paid.
Close to Osaka Castle and near-by train station. There is a convenience store next door to the hotel that's open late for snacks/drinks. Personal air conditioner and air purifier in the room. Bed was very comfortable and room was spacious when compared to typical Japanese sized hotels. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Lobby had coffee/tea available for guests.
The hotel was big and new, the rooms were bigger than most APA hotels which was a nice surprise. We got extremely lucky with our view from the room, we could see Osaka Castle! I loved that the hotel had a Lawsons on the 4th floor and a coffee shop in the lobby. There was also a great rooftop deck/pool and restaurant.
Very convenient location for Dontonburi and Osaka Castle. Surrounded by great restaurants/bars. Upgraded hostel, we stayed in a private room that appears to have previously been an apartment room. Great modern bathroom with shower and nice comfy beds and personal A/C. Lots of outlets.
The location was perfect right at the base of the Osaka Castle. The staff as so kind and helpful. The room was a little small but that’s standard for Japanese hotels. Also the temperature control was difficult but we just opened a window. The bathroom set up was great with quality soaps
The interior of the lobby of the hotel was very nice and it was walking distance from the Osaka Castle. It was close to a metro station, which was convenient. We liked that the hotel had tennis courts. We were able to use it, but paid extra fees. The staff was very friendly.
The room was very large compared to other hotels in Japan that I've stayed in. The location was very close to the necessary trains and subways, and very close to tourist destinations such as Amerika-mura and Osaka Castle.
The hotel is located near Osaka Castle and a train station for traveling further distances. The room was very clean, and it included air conditioning to keep cool during hot weather.
The location was great and very close to Osaka Castle. The metro station was close too. Also the hotel provided parking, which was nice since we came by car.
The beauty of Sakura at Kema Sakuranomiya and Osaka Castle, plus peach groove in front of Osaka castle made me so very very happy.
Places like Osaka Castle and Minami garden (near Minami senri eki) are quite big and not so crowded.
