If you were here 2 years ago, then this WAS the place to be. Now, it is a tree-lined family friendly street. In the evenings (Before the alchol ban) there were some Thai clubs with bands. The patrons will be seen sucking gas frm balloons and there might be one or two bucket vans, but NOTHING like the original khao san.
The bargains are there but where is it you will end up paying a bit more for some things than some street vendors. When we where walking about we did get approached by a few people with drink boards and stuff like that if you don’t like being hassled by people every 10 steps I wouldn’t recommend going here. It is the same all over bangkok but this was the worst place we visited. Everywhere else it was just taxis and tuk tuk’s it did make us laugh tho.
Great for a night or 2,we stayed at D+D inn that was in the center. It was tucked back behind all the noise and was quite considering its location, roof top pool and bar was great with a very good view. This street is very very noisy with its music and many people there of all ages. Drinks were very reasonable because of all the competition. Great DJs and many fast food places
Party, party party. Oh, and people selling you things which are more than just pushy. We witnessed a fight here at night, and it was the owner of a bar kicking an American boy for literally nothing. All Thai people on Khao San Road have a certain attitude which differs from Thai people in other places. The prices in the shops were outrageous - you can literally find the same things in other areas of Bangkok for a quarter of the prices there.
This place can be hectic and if your all about seeing other foreigners then this maybe the place to come for you. Many bars, restaurants and at night the market stalls are quite well set up and pretty cheap with fairly good products.
Been here many times since 1995. It used to be awesome and a refuge for backpackers to recharge and reorganise whilst passing through BKK. What a dump it has become. Touts hassling to sell taylored suits every 10 steps. It is now the Kuta of Bangkok. When McDonalds moves in you know the place has lost its soul. Just don’t bother.
We were crazy tired and stumbled in off the loudest street in Bangkok. It was late on New Years weekend and the staff was so accommodating in finding a quiet room to fit 3 people who needed sleep. The location is exceptional, basically on Khao San Road. The rooms were clean with all the necessities and the staff were first class. We left a cell phone in a cab and the front desk helped us locate the driver and return the phone, made a huge difference as we were just starting a month long trip. Highly recommend
We got a free upgrade to the superior room, with a balcony that had a great view of the city, and was a fantastic spot to watch the sunset. The bathroom had a nice big bathtub, and the room overall was very nice. It felt like a fancy hotel back in the U.S. The neighborhood was great, quiet and very local, and a nice break from the over-touristed Khao San road area. The pool was nice, too.
They gave an upgrade in our room, don’t really know why. The room had 2 air cons working perfectly and the bed was amazing. Powerpoints on both sides of bed, which is a good plus for us and the location was great for what we had planned in town. It’s actually 15 minutes walking from Khao San Road. Breakfast was nice and the server was the nicest people we saw at the hotel, very nice guy.
The hotel is in a good location close to important places, especially the Grand Palace. The hotel has spacious rooms, clean and good value. If you want to visit Khao San Road, you can walk from this hotel. If you need a standard price hotel and a good location, this hotel is ok.
The location of the hotel is located in Khaosan Road, it is a great location if you visit Khao San Road. The room was spacious and the bed was soft. Service staff are fair and speak politely.
Staff and hotel are nice. A little noisy at night but this is Khao San Road and the room are little bit small but well design. I had a very good experience with the hair dryer!
Great location to walk to Khao san road, Palace, Wat Pho, etc., but also at a peaceful location not to be bothered by the Bangkok noise. I also liked the whole monkey theme.
Great location, right next to Khao San Road. Very quiet at nights despite being with many people. New and clean furniture.
Everything is priced really economically. You can get more with the same amount of money as compared to malls or departmental stores. Shop along the streets and night markets like Siam Night Market, Chatuchak Weekend Market (opened in the morning till evening), Platinum Mall (closed at 8pm), MBK, Union Mall, Khaosan Road and many more. Explore!
