The things we liked the most about the hotel: The location - evidently superb. The breakfast - great both in terms of selection and quality of food. They serve a platter with multiple savory and sweet foods (who watches turkish series will know what I mean 🙂) and then eggs made by way of choosing. There are also different kinds of tea, coffee and freshly sqeezed juice. The staff - they are one of most hospitable people I have ever met, and I have been coming to Turkey (known for its hospitability) for years so my criteria is quite high. They were great: from helping us get from the airport to the hotel, welcoming us, being extremely kind and attentive to our every need during our stay, letting us have a couple of hours later check out and helping us with the transport back to the airport. The housekeeping staff is fast and efficient and keeps the room very clean and tidy (special shout-out to the very kind and friendly Belgin). We are very grateful to the reception staff and waiters for their hard work in making our stay great and especially to Mert, who made each day with his friendly demeanor, offers to help and bringing us unlimited amounts of coffee and tea. 😊 All in all, I highly recommend Hotel Saint Sophia.

Our stay at ANTUSA DESIGN HOTEL & SPA in Istanbul was truly delightful! The hotel’s prime location near Ayasofya made it an excellent choice for exploring the city’s historic sites. A special thanks to Mr. Hamdullah at the reception for his warm hospitality and professionalism. He, along with the rest of the staff, went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable. The breakfast was also very good, with a nice variety to start the day. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Istanbul and will definitely stay here again in the future!

-We arrived at 6AM the morning and left our baggage whilst going to explore before our 2PM checkout. -Upon arrival we were given lovely pomegranate juice. - The breakfast was really nice - The rooftop view of the Marmara sea is to die for. You can also see both the Ayasofya and the Blue Mosque. - The manager, Ali, is friendly and welcoming. Also gives good tips on how get things done efficiently in Istanbul. I don’t usually write reviews but the service at this hotel was just next impeccable.

Hagia Sophia

In 537 AD, Hagia Sophia began life as a church, before becoming an Ottoman mosque in 1453. The largest cathedral in the world for almost a thousand years, this majestic building is considered one of the finest surviving examples of Byzantine architecture. Today, you can go inside and explore both the colossal structure as well as its museum.

The most disappointment of the visits, due to enormous inner metallic construction for the repairworks and apart from the fact its conversion to a mosque (at least for the non Muslims). The authorities must decide. If it is a place for culte then it could have free entrance like at the majority of the other mosques. If it is a musuem and paid quite a lot, then they are obliged to uncover the masterpieces of art and to allow visitors to enter also from the main gate on the groundfloor and let them admire

Not worth the money to go! Very dissapointing. Also they try to swindle you & upsell on the ticket price from €25 to €50, so you end up paying double for a less than mediocre experience. Avoid at all cost.

Queues, Queues and more queues. But worth it. Do not bother with the AR experience which costs an extra 1250 TL (£25) each. The entrance is roughly £25 to get in if you buy it at the ticket office, make sure you ask for the basic tour otherwise they include the AR experience as a default. Amazing mosaics and beautiful architecture.

This greekorthodox monument, one of the greatest for the christianity worldwide, is questionably managed by the modern Turkish state, after it was recently converted to a mosque (since there are so many of them, I really wonder why) The entrance for the tourists is allowed only at the 2nd floor, missing that way, an amazing perspective of this exceptional temple, that you can have only from the ground floor. You simply get half the pleasure! At least, you can have a glance of the unique mosaics covered by white pieces of cloth, due to religious restrictions. Anyway, don't miss it!

Sadly tourists can only go around the upper level.

Sadly tourists can only go around the upper level. Previously you could get in on the ground floor and experience the wonderful open space of the huge dome above you. It is still possible to see some of the dome and the structure is very interesting but a slight disappointment. However , it is an amazing old structure. Small number of mosaics still visible. Better and more extensive mosaics at the Kariye Camii if mosaics are of interest.

Our family loved staying at the lovely hotel Triton. From booking the stay to reaching the hotel, the hotel staff continuously stayed in touch and responded to all queries promptly, regardless of the time of day or night. The property was located at a great location with literally steps away from the blue mosque, Hagia Sophia, and the bazaar. The staff was extremely professional, being available 24 hours to accommodate the guests and were very polite and helpful. We will be coming back to hotel Triton for sure :)
