If you plan to visit the Harem rooms make sure that you buy the ticket as they sell both the palace and Harem tickets separately. Sadly once you're inside many of the rooms are closed for renovation and we sort of lost our way to Harem as there was no significant sign to point out its location, so once you pass the Entrance security gate turn to your right and you will find a small coffee stand the entrance for Harem is there. Start from their and work your way to the palace. It'll take you 2 hours to go through the whole palace.
Manage expectations by doing a little research ahead of time. The palace is fascinating, but not as lavish as you might expect. Other palaces farther up the Bosporus are more "palace-like"... this is a preservation of history. Get the Museum Pass before going in. It will get you into all of the different parts of the palace, which is really 3 museums (and 3 tickets) in one.
The palace is quite substantial, though most of it is covered up for renovations. The pools are empty and the fountains are dry. There is an extra fee for the Harem quarters once you are in the Palace grounds, which is disappointing as I believe most people visit because it is advertised as the Palace of the Sultans harem. The parklands next door are also worth a walk.
A lot of places were under construction and the places were overcrowded i felt its not worth it to pay up 60lira when there’s nothing much to look around as a lot of the chamber were closed for visitors. The only highly redeeming quality were the Sacred Relics chamber, it was a wonderful feeling seeing those relics that once belonged to the Rasul and sahabah near you
**Must visit ** Recommend to buy only topkapi palace tickets for 60 TL, cz you have a choice to pay 35 TL more to buy harem place entry its inside topkapi palace but not much things to see there only if u have extra money to spent :) . But topkapi palace is very nice and again must visit i recommend to buy the audio guide its only for 20 TL. Small tip *Bring your own earphones much better :)
You can spend the whole day here, the porpoerg outside as well is a park and just perfect ! If you gave the museum pass, the archeological museum and the Hagia small church is here as well ! The palace is just amazing ! Get there early during touristy season but we were there in feb and it wasn’t as bad
The hotels is the epitome to tranquility. Location could not have been better. Its with in walking distance to the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sofia and the Basilica Cistern. The breakfast has a great spread with eggs made to order. Food at the hotel restaurant was delicious and they have a great wine presentation and selection. The rooms are sparkly clean. Staff at this property is very friendly, helpful and curtious. We could not have asked for anything more.
The location of the hotel is perfect, right in the heart of the historical part of the city, and 10 minutes out from the main attractions Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque and Topkapı Palace. The hotel is a traditional one, where you can see parts of the Turkish culture. Also, the Spa is totally worth it, from enjoying the saunas and Turkish bath, to purchasing massage packages. The breakfast was absolutely amazing, with a great variety of kinds of food.
Nice hotel, very clean & comfortable . Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the Hotel Manager Suleyman. Free breakfast was super delicious. All tourist attractions Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Underground Cistern, Golden Horn, Grand Bazaar and Bosphorus, all are within 5 to 15 minutes walking distance. The Hotel is located within a restaurant districts. Would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone!
The hotel was literally down the street from key main attractions - Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque. The Grand Bazaar was probably a 15 minute walk away or less. The staff are extraordinarily friendly, accommodating, and communicating with them about scheduling tours was quick and easy. I highly recommend this hotel, especially if you ask for a room further away from the busy front street.
This hotel is in an ideal location. Quick access to all the shops and tourist attractions like hagia sophia, blue mosque, topkapi palace are all within walking distance. Also within walking distance is the Grand bazaar and a train station should you want to wander further out. We did however spend most of our time in the area of the hotel as it offers all you would look for istanbul
Perfect location. 1 min walk to Sultanahmet area and 5 min walk to Hagia Sofia and Blue mosque and Topkapi palace and Basilica cistern. Hotel is small boutique style, small rooms but just enough space to sleep and shower. Nice terrace for morning coffee and breakfast, food is basic nothing fancy. Staff is all friendly. Easy location to pick a cab and go to other sights.
Unbeatable location, right next to the Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace. Free WiFi. Excellent breakfast buffet included on the roof of the hotel with an amazing view. Great view of the Hagia Sofia from the hotel room. Very friendly and helpful hotel staff!
Best accommodation experience in Istanbul! Great location. You literally right next to the wall of Topkapi palace, but it’s quite and hotel patio is just amazing. Thanks to all staff for great job and wonderful hospitality. Definitely gonna stay again.
staying at the Grand Peninsula was great, esp. the location the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofiya ,Topkapi Palace were literally just minutes away from the hotel. I highly recommend Grand Peninsula.
Good air conditioning and excellent staff. The hotel was very close to Topkapi Palace and Grand Bazaar.
Walk everywhere possible. Visit Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Basilica cisterns and Topkapi Palace but go as early as possible as they get very crowded. For a trip on the Bosporus get the public ferry from under the Galata bridge to the last stop and go up to the castle and then get last ferry back to Istanbul. The first ferry is at 10.35 and the ferry back is at 3ish. It is very reasonable but there is no commentary but we thought it was excellent but be early to get a good view and position on top deck. We found the best restaurant to be Amedros. We went two times and the food is excellent and good value and the staff friendly attentive.
If you go to Topkapi Palace it is worth paying for a guided tour in order to appreciate it. Audio guides are available but in my experience these are often disappointing. The rooms are often empty and there is limited information to read. A guide brings the place to life.
Belongings of prophets, his companions, religious belongings and sultan's belongings in topkapi palace
The most relaxing moments is anywhere in the parks of Topkapi Palace which are tremendously lovely with gorgeous views.
