This place has horible audio guide. I wish I hired a guide for my visit there. Do not go there if you have just few hours or tired. You must be well rested and have at least half of the day to enjoy it.
The Turkish empire palace , was very beautiful and absolutely worthy to visit , its take around 3 to 4 hours to visit very thing and enjoy , good choice to see the history of Turkish empire ( the Osmania Country )
Huge place- the extra fee for the harem is worth it, but was much larger than I anticipated. Almost impossible to get photos with all the Instagraming Imbeciles, which is the case absolutely everywhere, even with the crowds down during Covid-19. I was solo, and able to move much faster than groups-photos are not allowed in many rooms, still I’d say one could spend anywhere from 2.5 hours to half a day. One of the few places I would go back when visiting Istanbul again.
The Topkapi Palace should be top of list for anyone interested to know about the world behind the ancient powerful Ottoman walls. There is so much to see especially in the Holy relics room. An absolute must see
Plan your first visit in the morning at Topkapi Place, and stay there till early afternoon or noon time. Remember, you have to walk a lot inside, there is a long ticketing queue in the seasons. You must spend at least 3 to 4 hours for your complete visit of Topkapi Palace
If you plan to visit the Harem rooms make sure that you buy the ticket as they sell both the palace and Harem tickets separately. Sadly once you're inside many of the rooms are closed for renovation and we sort of lost our way to Harem as there was no significant sign to point out its location, so once you pass the Entrance security gate turn to your right and you will find a small coffee stand the entrance for Harem is there. Start from their and work your way to the palace. It'll take you 2 hours to go through the whole palace.
The hotel is conveniently located near most of the main attractions in the Sultanahmet area. It's about 7mins walk from Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and Topkapi palace. It's also a 15-20 min walk to Grand Bazar. We barely had to rely on transportation. The staff was extremely helpful and willing to assist, they helped arrange transportation to/from the airport for us. A big shout out to Hakan who also helped arrange our PCR test before leaving. Rooftop breakfast was everything you could ask for, great view and amazing food.
The breakfast was phenomenal, an amazing spread of food. The breakfast staff was very friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel was great! The metro/tram is very close and all the attractions are relatively close by. Realistically, most places are within walking distance (Hagia Sophia, The Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace Museum, Galata Tower, and many more). The hotel staff are extremely accommodating and are really friendly. I am so happy to have stayed in this beautiful hotel.
Location of this hotel is wonderful, walking distance to St. Sophie, Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace and all other historical objects. The staff is very kind, nice cute street with lights and many restaurant, very good for lunch or dinner. Hotel has a hot fresh breakfast (it is a good bonus during COVID-time, many hotels cancel it...) and midnight tea with cake you can seat on top of the roof and enjoy the beautiful view around.
I absolutely loved Hotel Poem. The staff were excellent, the room was spacious and comfortable, and if I could give the breakfast 11/10 I would - it was one of the highlights of my stay here. Hotel Poem is located a few minutes walk from Topkapi Palace, Aya Sofya and the Blue Mosque as well as the tram line so it's perfectly located for exploring Istanbul, but it's on a quiet side street so it's peaceful too.
The location was 10/10, best location you can find. Also near the hotel are places to eat and drink. 3 min away from Haghia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Cisterne, Topkapi Palace...and near the sea. The hotel was clean, the lightning was perfect and we had a small balcony. Staff was sooo nice, the guy at the reception helped us a lot and the lady who maintained the hotel bringed us breakfast even why we were latte.
We absolutely LOVED our time in Tash konak. The staff is warm, welcoming and knowledgeable of the area. The rooms are clean and extremely comfortable. The hotel is perfectly situated to explore Istanbul - specially walking distance to Hagai Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace. Our only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer! Thank you all, you are our second family in Istanbul from now on!
This hotel is in an ideal location. Quick access to all the shops and tourist attractions like hagia sophia, blue mosque, topkapi palace are all within walking distance. Also within walking distance is the Grand bazaar and a train station should you want to wander further out. We did however spend most of our time in the area of the hotel as it offers all you would look for istanbul
I really liked the Hotel. The staff was super friendly, the location is pretty great too. The Hotel is located near by a few restaurants, a couple grocery shops, a pharmacy, a tram station, a metro station and mainly a mosque which could be considered as a guiding point. (near the Grand Bazaar and Laleli, 3 stations away from the Haghia Sofya, The Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace)
There is not a better location - right beside Topkapı Palace, with the historic walls visible right from the terrace, and around the corner from Hagia Sofia. The breakfast is varied and delicious, and the bed extremely comfortable. Engin and the other staff are so welcoming and helpful. And all for the same price as a private room at a hostel!
it is a great hotel. all of the stuff can speak English very well and they are really polite. the hotel is really nice and clean. the hotel is located in a really good and historical area which is near to the Hagia Sophia and topkapi palace. the see view room are great and have a very great view. highly recomended.
Walk everywhere possible. Visit Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Basilica cisterns and Topkapi Palace but go as early as possible as they get very crowded. For a trip on the Bosporus get the public ferry from under the Galata bridge to the last stop and go up to the castle and then get last ferry back to Istanbul. The first ferry is at 10.35 and the ferry back is at 3ish. It is very reasonable but there is no commentary but we thought it was excellent but be early to get a good view and position on top deck. We found the best restaurant to be Amedros. We went two times and the food is excellent and good value and the staff friendly attentive.
If you go to Topkapi Palace it is worth paying for a guided tour in order to appreciate it. Audio guides are available but in my experience these are often disappointing. The rooms are often empty and there is limited information to read. A guide brings the place to life.
Belongings of prophets, his companions, religious belongings and sultan's belongings in topkapi palace
The most relaxing moments is anywhere in the parks of Topkapi Palace which are tremendously lovely with gorgeous views.
