While I have the greatest respect for the men and women of the U.S. Air Force, this monument does not do them justice. A modernist eye sore, it looks like s lawn ornament missing the shiny metallic ball resting on top. Located at the end of Columbia Pike near a major interchange for I-395, and at the far end of Arlington National Cemetery it is not easily walkable and parking can be a challenge because of overflow from the Pentagon and Henderson Hall. If the intention was to grab the attention of drivers on 395 for two seconds as they pass at 55 MPH, mission accomplished. If the intention was to create a public space to come and reflect on the service and sacrifice of past, present and futmembers of our Air Force, they failed to hit the target.
