Sleazy! Thought shops would be quaint and 'boutique' but just tourist tat and lots of sleaze. Apparently turns into a big party in the evening. Probably best for young open minded people.... not really for families.
Walk on the shaded side of the street. The heat sweeps down the street like an oven. Many shops and many bars to visit. Bring your own water because it gets pricy. It is a fun day to walk around. Start by the Southernmost Point and go clear to the docks! We saw a shark and a manatee right off Duval Street dock area before an early morning excursion.
Just returned from vacation in Key West. Stayed at Casablanca Inn. Can't say enough good things about this place. Centrally located on Duval, wonderful rooms, and such a friendly and helpful owner and staff....we will be back....I will share a secret, they say the slow time is the beginning of December, I would say it's one of the best times to visit, no crowds, plenty to do, warmest weather in Florida.
Busy...cool shops but explore the shops on the side streets because there are fabulous little shops hidden off the beaten path. I loved all the chickens running through town! Make sure you watch for happy hour to save some money because almost all the restaurants are pricey. Smathers Beach is an easy Uber drive away. Very sandy. Zachery Beach is beautiful but rocky. Visibility for snorkeling was poor. We rented a schooner on an excursion and visibility was better snorkeling out in the ocean. We went to the butterfly observatory and the aquarium. We enjoyed both!
Very fun. The north end has shops and more of the crazy bars. The mid to south end has a ton of shopping and the touristy places. We stayed at the north end a block away from Duval and it was a perfect location. The boat dockarea is fun with little shops and a great bar on the water / something for everyone! There were a lot of kids which is fine but doesn’t seem like the place you would want to bring your kids to but that’s just me.
We were not impressed with Duvall St very much. Most of ships were old and selling mostly T shirts and tourist stuff . There are some art gallery shops and a few upscale clothing stores . It was something to do but we felt like we wasted an hour of our time.
The breakfast is the highlight of the hotel. It is a sort of buffet but you are being served by waitresses. The quality and the variety is excellent: from huge fresh fruit bowls, to muffins, bagels with cheese, marmalade or nutella, cereals, and homemade oatmeal cookies. They also serve champagne for extra charge of $ 7. The second highlight of the hotel is certainly the location. It is 5 minutes walk from Southermost point and Duval street, very central and convenient.
The locations is great! If you don't mind walking it is about 1 mile from the ferry terminal, 0.5 mile from Duval street and about 0.25 mile from the furthest south marker...The hotel is older but they seem to be keeping it up. The room has a mini fridge, microwave, TV two doubles, breakfast is served out at the pool. Parking is available for $15 dollars night. I would stay again as the price for the area was good.
The Palms is a very cozy, family type hotel. We found our room, very clean, freshly painted, bed comfortable. Shower hot. This is not a fancy hotel, it met our expectations in every way. Very similar to cape cod or Martha's vineyard family hotel/motels. The best part of this hotel is the location. Its about a 10 minute walk to duval street, key west where all bars and restaurants are located.
El Patio is a delightful spot. Totally walkable to the beach and Duval Street. I loved the rooftop patio. Perfect for an afternoon cocktail. I like the old Key West feel of this well placed hotel. We rented the apartment unit with the kitchen. I don’t like to have to eat out every meal. A great solution! We would go again.
The location of the hotel is perfect, at a very quiet area but at the same time very close to the heart of Key West. You just need to walk 5-6 mins to Duval Street where anything can be found, restaurants bars clubs etc. The hotel has free wi-fi and free parking lot which are both very nice.
The hotel is in a great location. Far enough from the hustle of Duval Street but close enough to easily walk to all the areas of interest. The hotel is clean and well maintained and the staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating to any request. The room was clean and comfortable.
The bay view room was very nice. Hotel location was great for walking Duval street and only a mile walk to the southernmost point. Great location for walkers and no need to have a car unless you want to get away from town.
The room was very clean. The hotel is located within walking distance of Duval Street, many great restaurants, and shopping.
Average hotel, fairly clean, nice pool, breakfast was boxed due to Covid. The price was right. Free shuttle to Duval street.
It was really fun walking along Duval Street in the evening. Despite there being a wide variety of entertainment, things that did not appeal to us were easily avoided.
