The pictures do not do the onsen at this ryokan justice. We arrived later than I had hoped because our car's navigation lead us in the wrong direction, but the staff never made us feel guilty and helped us to check in. Our room was Japanese style with a great view of the garden and the ravine the river flows into. My tween found the futons very comfy. They worked with our dietary restrictions to make a wonderful multi-course Japanese meal, though I admit, I think I still liked the tempura course best. My tween slept through breakfast, but I really liked the fruit smoothie, which was lighter than I expected. The onsen are amazing here. There is the very traditional looking bathes overlooking a waterfall as well as two other floors of onsen, some of which rotate between men and women. Most of the onsen are also quite deep. My only regrets are we arrived late and couldn't explore the town and that I didn't buy the special chopsticks for sale here.

Exceptional service by all staff! Above and beyond the call of duty, the staff went out of their way to provide impeccable service in all areas: arrival, reception, attention to detail, care and attention, assistance, warm service straight from the heart, and explaining everything with patience. Food served was of extraordinary standards and high quality. True hospitality is not about facilities , it’s about service straight from the heart. All other Ryokans should send their staff here for training and to learn true hospitality

Külalistemaja TAKITA-KAN asub Iwakis, 32 km kaugusel Aquamarine Fukushimast. Kohapeal on ühine puhkeruum, tasuta eraparkla ja aed. Külalistemajas on peretoad. An exceptional place to relax! We loved everything! The perfect location, delicious food and stunning nature!

Kutsurogijyuku Shintaki asub JR Aizuwakamatsu jaamast 15-minutilise bussisõidu kaugusel. Kohapeal on 4 kuumaveeallikat, kus on tasuta voolav allikavesi. Kohapeal on tasuta WiFi-ühendus ja restoran. Delicious breakfast and dinner. Courteous staff and public bath was good.

Harumiya Ryokan asub Fukushimas, Nihonmatsu jaamast 24 km ja Koriyama jaamast 41 km kaugusel. Majutusruumides on istumisnurk. Beautiful location next to a mountain stream. Out of the way. Well-appointed facility with and friendly, helpful staff.

Located in Koriyama, 18 km from Koriyama Station, Moritaya features accommodation with a hot spring bath and a public bath. Our stay was delightful. The staff was very attentive and responsive to all our questions (unlike in some of the reviews, they were as helpful in the morning as at our arrival, and not stressed at all). We were the only non Japanese speaking guests but they tried their best to answer us in English. The place itself was very clean and beautifully decorated, so was our suite. The beds were very comfortable, the living room spacious, and the private balcony onsen wonderful. The attention to detail was greatly appreciated, like the provided lotions, drinks and supplies. Dinner in a private room with a view on the river, was quite the experience. A flurry of meals, coming one after the other, was very enjoyable. We wished the staff would take a bit more time explaining to us, non Japanese, more about the food itself. The non private onsens were great as well, especially the outdoor one.

Located in Ashinomaki Onsen, 渓谷美の宿川音 provides some air-conditioned rooms with private open-air hot spring bath. The staff is friendly and trying to explain everything even though they have a limited knowledge of English. They have also provided us with some tattoo-tickers for free. The public bath is nice and after it you can enjoy some milk or ice cream from a vending machine or play table tennis in a comfortable yukata provided by the hotel. The breakfast is excellent. I recommend the Japanese style rooms for foreigners as well for fun!

Hotell Route Inn Grand Fukushima Ekimae Higashiguchi asub Fukushimas, Nihonmatsu jaamast 27 km ja Koriyama jaamast 49 km kaugusel. Location, women only baths and restaurant.

Guesthouse & Kitchen Hace asub Iwakis, 11 km kaugusel Aquamarine Fukushimast. Kahetärniline majutusasutus on ühise puhkeruumi, restorani ja baariga. Breakfast was individually organised and wrapped that made the whole experience a lot more unique. The whole building was an ex taxi noffice in traditional style. Had a cute little table for eating food. Don't expect spacious facilities, but if you are after traditional Japanese experience with home atmosphere, this Guesthouse is for you.
