Situated in Kanazawa in the Ishikawa region, with Kanazawa Castle and Kenrokuen Garden nearby, 黒梅屋 Kurumiya features accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking, as well as access to a hot... Everything. This place is actually a 11/10. The 3 ladies we met from the staff were incredibly welcoming, kind and helpful (booked the diner tables for us in nearby restaurants). The room was amazing, big with comfortable beds while the private onsen is a must try. With no doubts the best place we stayed in during 3 weeks of traveling in Japan.

The place is easily the best stay I had in Japan: great, spacious room (apartment rather) with own onsen-powered bath, amazing traditional Japanese breakfasts, lovely, open, and helpful staff & owner. Reasonably located in a typical small-street quarter of a Japanese city, which was in a reasonable walking distance from everything you might want to see in the city.

We went there to experience a japanese traditional hotel, as well as to rest after 10 days in Tokyo region, before going to another 10 days of walking in Kyoto-Osaka-Hiroshima region. Overall, was the perfect experience... The shuttle from JR station to the hotel has a great schedule. The staff was very nice and available, the room marvelous and traditional, very spacious also. The surroundings of the hotel are beautyfull and great for a walk in the woods by the river. The public onsen of the hotel is relaxing and an amazing experience (we went 3 times in 2 nights).The view from the room also wonderfull. This was the most expensive hotel (per night) we had in our 25 days japan trip, but worth it! I recommend it to everyone. I think 2 nights are perfect to rest and enjoy the experience, with breakfast included. Breakfast has like 14 different things in front of you, and change each day. You can try lots of different stuff from Japan.

Boasting a 200-year history, Motoyu Ishiya features classic architecture, an original Noh stage and a garden. This ryokan was the highlight of our trip. The 5-person room offered a large space with closets, terraces, low and high tables, wooden wall ornaments, and painted sliding doors, for a memorable traditional stay. The room included the standard toilet and washroom, except for the shower. The public bath should be used for showering and bathing. Meals were served in a beautiful dining room at the agreed time. Breakfast and dinner included numerous small portions of traditional food. Although it was fish and vegetable-heavy, everything tasted good, and the meal size was more than enough for everyone. During dinner, the staff prepared futon beds in the room. They were very comfortable and we had a great sleep. However, futons are harder than mattresses and encourage sleeping on your back. The onsen was the main attraction. There were the inside and the outside hot baths, and the cold bath. The water is very dark and not transparent. It's supposed to have a very high pH and be good for skin. I believe this onsen offers great value for a reasonable price, probably because its location is not particularly famous.

This was our first traditional ryokan experience during our honeymoon, and we loved every moment of our stay. Everything is thoughtfully arranged for you, from the pick-up at Matto Station to meals, drinks, and clothing. All you need to do is relax and enjoy your time. We stayed in a traditional room with a private open-air onsen, which was my favorite part. The dinner was amazing. I understand that some dishes might not be for everyone, but I loved every single one. I’m a foodie and enjoy exploring different flavors, and this was truly a highlight for me. For breakfast, I chose the western option and my husband had the Japanese option, and both were incredibly delicious. The surroundings are beautiful and calming. After our stay in Tokyo and a hike up Mount Fuji, this was exactly what we needed. Our host was lovely, originally from Spain but having lived in Japan for a long time, she speaks fluent Japanese and English very well. The rest of the staff were professional and kind too. Since it was our honeymoon, they even gifted us a beautiful Kutani ceramic tea cup, which was incredibly thoughtful. Overall, we absolutely loved our stay and will definitely come back!

The onsen is a luxury to experience in front of the beautiful scenaries of the mountains and river. Walking out in the morning seeing chicken will melt your heart

Situated in Kaga, 32 km from Eiheiji Temple, Araya Totoan features accommodation with a terrace, free private parking, a restaurant and massage services. A truly stunning, historical and special stay. The owner and team were so wonderful and looked after us beautifully. The suite itself was divine. Soaking in a cedar tub while looking at the forest floor is something we’ll never forget. The private dining room makes your stay feel even more exclusive. The food was truly out of this world. Our baby was catered for beautifully. We even had a large Moses basket in the dining room for her to rest. The area itself is very cool- there was an arts and crafts fair there when we stayed. There is a beautiful forest walk too. Can’t fault the stay and can’t wait to return one day.

Beautiful, huge room with private onsen. Staff treated us like royalty. Food was top notch. Cute, walkable little mountain village with relocated Edo houses and nature trails. Amazing experience!
