Having a hot open air bath to the sounds of birds and a waterfall… unforgettable. Beautiful view from the room, the facilities are all new and clean, the staff were incredibly sweet and helpful

Boasting a 200-year history, Motoyu Ishiya features classic architecture, an original Noh stage and a garden. Everything went well, it was an incredibly peaceful and beautiful experience. Thank you for hosting us.

We were very well received from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. Natalie, the person in charge of us, did everything to make us feel very pampered. The outdoor onsen is very comfortable and has all the luxuries. First time in Japan and we really enjoyed the experience.

The old building was restored beautifully and embodied the wabi sabi ethic. The owner is a remarkable chef and the attention to detail in every dish she created was also evident in every aspect of the accomodation right down to the coffee grinder in the room, the gorgeous bed linen, the key tags, the selection of books in our room. And the private outdoor baths attached to the main building made this a very relaxing stay. Pickup from Kanazawa made everything easy.

The owner and team were so wonderful and looked after us beautifully. The suite itself was divine. Soaking in a cedar tub while looking at the forest floor is something we’ll never forget. The private dining room makes your stay feel even more exclusive. The food was truly out of this world. Our baby was catered for beautifully. We even had a large Moses basket in the dining room for her to rest. The area itself is very cool- there was an arts and crafts fair there when we stayed. There is a beautiful forest walk too. Can’t fault the stay and can’t wait to return one day.

I was a bit nervous about staying since my Japanese isn't super great, but they had English speaking staff who helped us whenever it was needed. So there aren't any language barriers for English speakers. Wonderful place and service is great if you know what you're getting into.
