Built in 1722, Okyakuya is situated in the historical district of Kurokawa Onsen district. Located only 100 metres from Kurokawa Onsen, Free WiFi is provided and private parking is available on site. We had an amazing stay at Okyakuya and would absolutely love to return. The location could not be better, right in the heart of Kurokawa Onsen. When we visited, the entire town was beautifully lit up for the holidays, and it made evening walks feel incredibly special and romantic. The staff were truly wonderful. Everyone was so warm and welcoming, and their English was very good, which made conversations easy and enjoyable. The service went above and beyond. We loved being able to chat with the staff, and one of the highlights was running into them while walking around the holiday lights. They immediately offered to take a photo of us, which was such a kind and thoughtful gesture that really stayed with us. The food was also excellent. Every meal was delicious, and we really appreciated that each one was different, making every dining experience something to look forward to. Overall, Okyakuya made our time in Kurokawa Onsen incredibly memorable, and we would happily recommend it to anyone looking for exceptional hospitality and a truly special stay.

Boasting an open-air bath, garden and views of mountain, Hanare no Yado Hanagokoro is set in Minamioguni, 40 km from Mount Aso. We can feel the dedication and care that the hotel owner puts into managing the hotel. Every detail, from the room decor to the food and service for breakfast and dinner, is meticulously prepared. The comfort and decoration in the rooms feel very thoughtful! You can see the sakura petal decorations on the windows and the high-quality patterned and textured toilet paper in the bathroom, showing the owner’s attention to detail. Each room has its own private hot spring bath and toilet. We were pleasantly surprised that the hot spring water flows continuously, which is a huge plus for us after a tiring journey. The preparation of breakfast and dinner in the restaurant is also very thoughtful. The staff provide excellent service, and the food is both delicious and beautifully presented. Overall, it is truly perfect. We would give it a full score.

Kurokawa Onsen Yama no Yado Shinmeikan features 5 hot-spring baths, including a 30-metre long cave bath. The staff was extremely helpful, parking our car for us and helping us navigate. The cave onsen was stunning, as the cave was much larger than I expected and very interesting, and the water was very relaxing. The food was also incredible!

Located in the centre of Kurokawa Onsen, Oyado Noshiyu offers outdoor and indoor hot-spring baths, Japanese-style accommodations and a traditional teahouse. The stay in the Kurokawa Onsen exceeded our expectations. We spent amazing 18 hours in the onsen. We had specious room with private onsen. We could also use the other onsens in the resort privately. Dinner was served in a private room. The serving, taste, presentation was of the level of Michelin restaurant. The staff pays attention of every detail. Definitely worth recommendation. We loved it!

Located in Minami Aso in the Kumamoto Region, 10 km from Naka-dake, Hotel Yumeshizuku boasts a hot spring bath and sauna. Each room at this hotel is air conditioned and features a flat-screen TV. The private onsen was very nice. Hotel had good facilities like foot spa with a great view of Mt Aso. Dinner and breakfast was great and staff were friendly and able to speak english.

Boasting various indoor and open-air hot spring baths, Fumoto Ryokan offers traditional Japanese-style accommodation with a historic charm. It is surrounded by serene greenery next to a river. Very good as had multiple hot springs to try out from. Staff were friendly and helpful in bringing the luggages. Food was good
