Situated in Myoko, 31 km from Zenkoji Temple and 33 km from Nagano Station, Pension Moomin Papa features accommodation with free WiFi, air conditioning, a garden and a shared lounge. Papa drove us everywhere we wanted. We appreciate this ☺️ Papa provided an onsen.

Offering a terrace and hot spring bath, Maruyama Onsen Kojyokan is situated in Minami Uonuma, 2 km from Maiko Snow Resort. Free private parking is available on site. Amazing place - lovely and very comfortable, with extremely friendly and helpful staff. They speak decent English, but also have good systems set up with WhatsApp and Google Translate and nothing is too much trouble. The onsen are beautiful and the food in the restaurant is just delicious.

Yuzawa Grand Hotel is within a 2-minute walk from Echigo Yuzawa Train Station and the Sake Museum. It offers 3 public baths, a massage service and free parking on site. The food at breakfast and dinner was varied and exceptional. All of the dishes I tried I liked , and they had a nice variety of western and Japanese. The room we had was huge and very comfortable. The onsen facilities were excellent, and very well kept. We are skiers and this hotel was very well setup for skiers. They have locker rooms for storage as well as changing, and on checkout day you can leave all your luggage , go ski, come back and change and then leave. But what makes this hotel a standout is the staff. I speak limited Japanese but had no issues communicating with the staff either speaking directly to them or using google translate. They are kind, patient and will do anything to help you. On checkout day, we went skiing and came back at 11:30 and needed to use the courier service taqubin which is conveniently located inside the hotel gift shop. However, we failed to notice beforehand that the shop takes a close break from 11:30 until 3:30 and our train leaves at 3;15. We were very stressed but the lady who runs the store and handles the courier said no problem, she would stay open just for us and give us time to change out of our ski clothes ,repack our ski gear and come back. It took us longer than we thought to repack and change because we had some trouble locating the ski bag as it was behind the counter in long storage. It didn’t matter, she still waited and when we finally finished she patiently helped us with the forms and everything was handled . When we left again for the station we had some time to wait so we purchased some small sweets and went back to give them to the staff as a thank you for all their exceptional efforts and help with our stay . They seemed genuinely surprised and happy and then walked out to wave us goodbye! How nice and a great happy surprise for us! We cannot recommend this hotel enough and we will be back someday.

Set in peaceful landscapes, Kogakuro offers pleasant Japanese-style rooms with plenty of natural light. It features indoor and outdoor hot springs, a library and a cosy lounge with a fireplace. I loved the space of the room. The breakfast was incredible. So much choice and so well cooked

Conveniently situated in the Akakura Onsen district of Myoko, Adamo Akakura is situated 36 km from Nagano Station, 44 km from Jigokudani Monkey Park and 46 km from Suzaka City Zoo. It's brand new and the location is great, the staff are amazing and the quilts were the best ever. Big thanks the Grace, Oscar, Noah, Charlie, Lucy and the rest of the staff.

Located within 29 km of Zenkoji Temple and 31 km of Nagano Station, SLEEEP JP Myoko provides rooms with air conditioning and a shared bathroom in Myoko. I stayed here once during ski season last year and had such a great time that I decided to stay again this year when I visited Myoko. The lodge has been stylishly renovated, and the dining area in particular is a great place to relax while taking in the view. The tatami rooms are equipped with cute low tables, giving them a Japanese feel. The futons and pillows are also comfortable, making for a great night's sleep. The loungewear provided in each room was very comfortable, and my friend liked it so much that she researched where to buy some when she got home! There are also separate large public baths for men and women, allowing us to relax and unwind. The staff were also very helpful and kind when we needed assistance. During ski season, the lift to the gondola is right across the lodge, making this the perfect location for skiing and snowboarding. There are only a few restaurants open within walking distance during winter time. Most of them are owned by a Australians.

Set within 2 km of Gala Yuzawa Snow Resort and 22 km of Naeba Ski Resort, Guest house SENWA offers rooms with air conditioning and a shared bathroom in Yuzawa. The staff were reasonable and let me used their shower even after check out.

36 km from Niigata Station in Gosen, 一水荘 provides accommodation with access to a hot spring bath, hot tub and public bath. Beautiful and relaxing place to relax. The staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were spacious and comfortable with a fun retro feel and the food was exceptional.

Koshi no yado Takashimaya provides a hot tub and free private parking, and is within 35 km of Niigata Station and 4.1 km of Yahiko Shrine. We have stayed at many onsens around Japan over the years but this place is the very best of any we have stayed! It is a historic building that has 200 + years of history. Even the Japanese emperor stayed here a long time ago. On arrival the building looks a bit old but you quickly learn that it is nothing to be concerned about. Staff members, both old and young are exceptional and carry on the traditions of Japanese hospitality. The food, both breakfast and dinner was exceptional. Great variety of traditional Japanese cuisines. Every meal different items (except rice of course :>) . The natural spring hot tub just outside the room was very spacious. Temperature is adjustable by yourself. Truly a great place to spend 3 nights or more. Neighborhood walking also pleasant.
