Featuring beautiful nature views from its rooftop hot spring bath, Hotel Kazurabashi offers Japanese-style rooms and a dining room where food is prepared in the hearth at the guest's table. For more relaxation, it has a sauna and a games room, while massages can be arranged. Booked this hotel for the location in the iya valley and the onsen. It is just a 3min drive from the Iya valley vine bridge. But the hotel itself is a destination worth visiting itself. The onsen were superb. Well maintained with a quaint funicular train up the hill to the open air onsen that had great views of the mountains. Food was good quality. I particularly liked the multiple methods of preparing the ayu (river fish). The room itself was a very comfortable and quite newly renovated tatami room with all the typical ryokan amenities. Staff were not just polite but friendly and welcoming. English and Mandarin both spoken here - so that is very helpful for travelers.
Konpira Onsen, Kotohira
A 15-minute walk from JR Kotohira Station, Kotohira Kadan offers natural hot spring baths and spacious Japanese-style rooms, some with a private outdoor hot spring bath. Free Wi-Fi is available in the public area and in some rooms. We received the shuttle service to and from the Hotel. Grounds, and buildings were excellent. Well heated, but not stifling. There was a very comfortable lounge that was ideal for relaxing. Bedding was futons, made with a flourish by the night staff. We had the outdoor private onsen, which was absolutely superb. The breakfasts of a morning were sublime; some of the nicest we have ever had in Japan.

Traditional Japanese hotel in a very beautiful, remote location. Staff very polite and helpful. The outdoor Onsen has amazing views.
The hotel was well located and the breakfast was quite good. Many restaurants nearby and very close to the famous Onsen.
This is a beautiful Ryokan with lovely staff who were happy to have a little chat when we arrived and checked out. The rooms are spacious and very aesthetic with good amenities. The bathing facilities are fantastic and very relaxing after a long cycle route.
The onsen (hot spring) bath and the breakfast.
The most good part of this hotel is those staff. All of them were so kind. They made my stay as best as they could assist. Also, location, right next to Dogo onsen(I didn't use there, yamatoya's hot spring was amazing), if you go down, shopping street is there. Old Japanese style wooden structure is beautiful.
Brilliant, traditional style Ryokan with outdoor onsen with breathtaking views. You are taken to the onsen by a small cable car which adds to the unique experience.
We loved the onsen here, hot springs, cold bath and sauna all offered, preferred to Dogo area. Room very small and no outlook from our room but in a great location and clean. Lots of restaurants around and close to tram line which makes for ease of getting around
This ryokan is a bit off the path around Kochi but the main reason for the stay was the onsen, which more than met the expectations as listed on their website. The onsen had so many places to sit and enjoy the hot springs water, and the quality of the water was great (hot with a lot of dissolved minerals).
