The staff was so kind and happy all the time, they helped me a lot and they speak English, which is pretty rare in China, even in some hotels. They gave me a map and recommended some places, also asked a taxi for me for the next day that I had my train to Beijing in the morning. The shared dorm was clean, had shampoo, air conditioner, clean sheets, futon, and pillow. Also curtains for privacy. I enjoyed my stay a lot. They even gave me a little souvenir on my way out and free water. Thank you for a very pleasant stay. Amazing price and just five minutes walking from North Gate of the old city. Supermarket right on the corner.

Rooms are quiet and minimalist with great water pressure, reliable fast Wi-Fi, plenty of bedside outlets, and strong AC/heat. The bed and linens meet Western comfort standards. Breakfast can be chosen Chinese or Western—I tried both during my stay and each was fresh, well-presented, and generous (fresh juice and good coffee/tea included). Staff were proactive and friendly, arranged luggage pickup from the city gate, and communicated smoothly in English. The location is perfect for walking the lanes yet peaceful once inside the courtyard. Tips for Western travelers: cars can’t enter the old town, so message the hotel for pickup; wear comfortable shoes; and leave time to simply enjoy the courtyard—part heritage museum, part modern gallery. A flawless stay.

Shanxi Merchant Mansion har en god beliggenhed i Pingyao Ancient City-distriktet i Pingyao. Everything, especially the staff and the location. They picked us up and dropped us off at the train station. The hotel was clean and in the heart of the city. I would recommend it to a friend.

五福居 Five Blessings Hotel ligger 1,4 km fra centrum af Datong, mindre end 1 km fra Nine Dragon Screen, og tilbyder indkvartering med aircondition, gårdhave, gratis cykler og en have. Oh my goodness! This was a treat :) it is in the old city walls where there is tons of shopping, eating and sightseeing. We were also easily able to book a tour that picked us up at the hotel for the big sites light the pagoda, hanging temple and grottos. We wanted an English guide so booked through another source, but the hotel would also arrange for a taxi service if you wanted. The city wall is just across the street and you can ride bikes up there and during the evening there are shops and bright decorations. The 9 dragging screen with the glasses tiles is also a short walk. Museums, pagodas, temples, quaint streets and busy markets are all within walking distance. It is a bit away from the new city center and the south railway station (where all high speed trains come in) … BUT they arrange for free transportation to and from the hotel. It was apparent at every step of the way that those working were eager to please and wanted the stay to be perfect. They upgraded our room free of charge when they saw we had two kids and only 1 bed. The larger room was available so they have it to us to make the nights more comfortable. They also provide a free breakfast each morning and the food was outstanding. They made it to order and over fed us each day. Laundry machine and detergent is available for use. The facilities are very newly updated and clean. We wished we could have stayed for longer.

JW Marriott Hotel Taiyuan har en god beliggenhed i Xiaodian District-distriktet i Taiyuan. Det ligger 4,1 km fra Shanxi Medical University, 4,2 km fra Shanxi University og 4,4 km fra Yingze Park. We travelled in a group of 3 pax and requested for an additional bed; we were very happy to see this already arranged by the time we checked in after a long flight and given an upgrade to the executive size. Room was clean, spacious and bedding comfortable with a Nespresso machine in the room. We also enjoyed the diverse spread at breakfast - with lots of local fare and a good balance of non- local to choose from. We also appreciated the amazing speed of the staff who responded to our requests with friendliness and alacrity - the concierge desk, the bellboys and the ladies at the breakfast counters were very helpful during our stay. Highly recommended for a comfortable stay in Taiyuan
