A lovely boutique hotel in a beautiful old building. Comfortable, warm and clean. A gem! I had such a lovely stay. Helen, Fanny and manager Alice are so helpful and friendly. Alice speaks excellent English. Perfectly located for the beautiful old city of Pingyao.

Set in a historical building, a 4-minute walk from Huayan Temple East Plaza, Pipa Hotel offers accommodation in Datong City. Free WiFi is available throughout the property. This is our second time staying at this hotel. I am sure it not last time. Friendly staff, yummy breakfast, clean room, great location and strong culture!!! Last but not least - they have a little museum!

Pingyao Jiaxin Guesthouse features air-conditioned guest accommodation in Pingyao, 1.5 km from China Chamber of Commerce Museum, 1.5 km from Ji's Old Residence and 1.5 km from Pingyao Railway Station.... Totally amazing place to stay! Highly recommended. First of all, it is only 7 mins walk from the ancient city of pangyao. It is also so nearby the railway station. You can go by DIDI or bus, both are so convenient. Second, the decor of the place is AMAZING! I couldn’t help take pictures and video when i first came it. They even have a swing and glass-fish! The staff are so friendly and nice people. The Owner gave me water when i first came and when i left. Whenever i ask for anything she always helps. They have bar and food there with nice prices. I didn’t eat there but saw the food, it looked so delicious. The rooms were also amazing, it is two levels bed and mine was the one above. Surprisingly, it was so comfortable too. When i move it doesn’t vibrate into the bottom bed. The toilet is clean and they have shower gel, hair shampoo, small towel, and toothbrush with toothpaste ready for you to use. The air conditioner works fine and the wi-fi is connected from my room.

Situated in Pingyao, 200 metres from Ming and Qing Street , Hongyuyuan Family Guesthouse boasts a restaurant and free WiFi. It is located in Ancient City of Pingyao, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The room was large and beautiful. Beds were comfortable. The staff was very friendly. There's a restaurant in the ground floor which serves great food.

Featuring a garden and views of garden, Pingyao Ji Family Courtyard Inn is a guest house situated in a historic building in Pingyao, 200 metres from Qingxu Guan. The best hotel I have ever stayed in. Amazing location, right in the center of ancient town of Pingyao but still very quiet. The room is very beautiful, clean and there is all you need for a comfortable stay. Ji is amazing. I highly recommend a short or longer stay at the Ji Family Courtyard Inn.

PingYao Chengfu Jinyuan Hotel has free bikes, outdoor swimming pool, a fitness centre and garden in Pingyao. If you want the romance of a traditional courtyard with true boutique-hotel comfort, stay here. The property is brand-new, immaculate, and beautifully lit at night. Rooms are quiet and minimalist with great water pressure, reliable fast Wi-Fi, plenty of bedside outlets, and strong AC/heat. The bed and linens meet Western comfort standards. Breakfast can be chosen Chinese or Western—I tried both during my stay and each was fresh, well-presented, and generous (fresh juice and good coffee/tea included). Staff were proactive and friendly, arranged luggage pickup from the city gate, and communicated smoothly in English. The location is perfect for walking the lanes yet peaceful once inside the courtyard. Tips for Western travelers: cars can’t enter the old town, so message the hotel for pickup; wear comfortable shoes; and leave time to simply enjoy the courtyard—part heritage museum, part modern gallery. A flawless stay.

Ideally set in the Pingyao Ancient City district of Pingyao, Shanxi Merchant Mansion is situated 400 metres from Rishengchang Former Bank, 400 metres from Pingyao Ancient City Ticket Office and 500... Everything, especially the staff and the location. They picked us up and dropped us off at the train station. The hotel was clean and in the heart of the city. I would recommend it to a friend.

Attractively situated in the Xiao Dian district of Taiyuan, JW Marriott Hotel Taiyuan is situated 4.1 km from Shanxi Medical University, 4.2 km from Shanxi University and 4.4 km from Yingze Park. We travelled in a group of 3 pax and requested for an additional bed; we were very happy to see this already arranged by the time we checked in after a long flight and given an upgrade to the executive size. Room was clean, spacious and bedding comfortable with a Nespresso machine in the room. We also enjoyed the diverse spread at breakfast - with lots of local fare and a good balance of non- local to choose from. We also appreciated the amazing speed of the staff who responded to our requests with friendliness and alacrity - the concierge desk, the bellboys and the ladies at the breakfast counters were very helpful during our stay. Highly recommended for a comfortable stay in Taiyuan
