Great location, very clean, comfy room with aircon, well priced, extremely friendly and helpful staff. You can buy food/snacks for a reasonable price and they have free coffee and tea as well as hot and cold filtered water. Has a nice little balcony where you can watch the rain. Not incredibly social, but it’s also off season so I can’t imagine there would be anywhere more social in the area to be honest. Was clear about the fact that the blue fire at Ijen would not be available the days we were there and the staff was not pushy at all about buying tours, just very helpful. Honestly one of the best price to experience ratios I’ve ever gotten at a hostel, and the perfect place to chill or prepare for a hike. Also one of the cutest cats I’ve ever seen if my life lives here, she is friendly and very funny.

Being able to watch Netflix right in my room? That’s a luxury I rarely found throughout my trip in Indonesia!

This is a must visit, an absolute gem! Everything was exceptional, the food was amazing with fresh tropical fruit, bread, fresh veg, rice, noodles, fresh coffee all home made or from their garden. The hosts are a lovely family who are so welcoming with lovely children. We went up Mount Bromo and did a 26k run which worked very well. You can also do a walk of about 15k which is beautiful. We also visited a waterfall nearby which we also ran to. Rani organises everything for you, driver and any national park entry all at a local price. They also organise your pick up and drop off from Malang or Surabaya airports again for a local price. Cannot recommend enough!
