This is honestly the coolest guesthouse I’ve ever stayed at. First of all, it’s huge. I stayed in Dorm 2 on the second floor, and the room had more than enough space for everyone’s luggage. The bunk bed was also surprisingly spacious, with a shelf for personal items and even a locker for valuables. The staff were fantastic—especially Brandon at the reception, who was incredibly helpful, communicative, and genuinely friendly. He went out of his way to make sure all my needs were met, and he was also a great person to chat with. The entire guesthouse is spotless. Everything is clean, well-organized, and equipped with all the essentials. I especially loved the creative use of the former school building: the science lab turned into a kitchen, the classrooms into dorms, and even the principal’s office! I’m definitely trying that one next time. And the gymnasium—when was the last time I hung out in a school gym? Such a nostalgic and fun experience. If you’re visiting Magome-juku and looking for a place that’s both cool and comfortable, this is the one.

Το Onyado Yuinosho, Shirakawago βρίσκεται σε Shirakawa, σε απόσταση 45 χλμ από το σημείο ενδιαφέροντος Παραδοσιακό Χωριό Hida Minzoku Mura και παρέχει καταλύματα με κοινόχρηστο χώρο lounge, δωρεάν... This was a great introduction to a ryokan experience. While it’s part of a chain, it still felt authentic. Very spacious rooms, impeccable cleanliness. The onsen is one of the best we’ve experienced, with a view of ghe mountains. The food was so generous, prepared with the highest level of attention to sourcing local ingredients, respecting seasonal produce, and balancing flavors. This was a really lovely stay.

Very comfortable and big room, modern but with perfect fit with tradition, happy hour, onsen in the hotel and free ice cream once you finish with onsen! Also in the historic center which is something I loved! Just fell in love with it and regret for not staying there 2 nights

Effective October 1, 2025, a lodging tax will be introduced by ordinance of Takayama City. In addition to the room charge, 100 yen per person per day will be charged. Guest House Ouka is about 11mins walk from Takayama station, the route was pretty straight forward - just a straight line! The Guest House itself is cosy and well decorated. On 1/F you will find the reception counter and a home-like common area, the kitchen is fully equipped with utensils, cookware and long dining tables, Shower rooms are just next to the kitchen. My single room was on the 2/F which was clean, warm and spacious!! (with comfy bed/ chair/ hair dryer/ mirror/ small laundry rack etc. and a warm welcome note :) Restroom/ washing machine (200yen)/ tumble dryer/ Laundry racks/ washbasins were just few steps away. Staffs were so friendly and helpful, luggage storage was also available before check in and after check out. I had a great time in Ouka and Takayama, will definitely come back next time (and stay for few more days!)

Σε απόσταση μόλις 2 λεπτών με τα πόδια από τον σταθμό Takayama, το Oyado Koto No Yume προσφέρει δωμάτια γιαπωνέζικου στιλ με χρωματιστές πινελιές. Everything was simply perfect. The staff were amazing and extremely friendly! The rooms are spacious and while a bit dated, they are clean and very cozy. Being able to book a private hot bath was also very welcome. It is only a few minutes away from the Train/Bus station, but as soon as you enter the domain of the hotel, it feels as if you step from the city straight into an Onsen town. Unfortunately we only stayed for one night.

The resort is amazing, you can truly relax and experience the onsen culture away from crowds and in a very original way. Rooms are very nice and clean and the private onsen are the best added value if you want to have privacy and relax in the onsen.
