Onyado Yuinosho, Shirakawago provides a sauna and free private parking, and is within 45 km of Hida Minzoku Mura Folk Village and 46 km of Takayama Station. Lovely place, beautiful setting, great food, staff very friendly and helpful. It is quite far off the beaten track, so would need a car to get there. About 30 minutes drive from Koyasan on a mountain road. Would be a great base to explore the area over a couple of days.

Conveniently situated in the centre of Takayama, HOTEL WOOD TAKAYAMA provides air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi and private parking. This was our favourite property in Japan. Warm and inviting. Staff helpful and kind. The onsen was awesome! Location fabulous. And the free drinks every night really created a great vibe. All the gusts of the hotel hanging out all eve in the common area as the town closes up quite early. The place was gorgeous and simple. I miss it as I sit in my big impersonal Tokyo hotel

Effective October 1, 2025, a lodging tax will be introduced by ordinance of Takayama City. In addition to the room charge, 100 yen per person per day will be charged. A few minutes walking from the train station and others touristic places, the location it's so convenient. The common spaces have many Ghibli stuff as decoration, so at some point you feel like you are in a friend's home. Staff are so kind and helpful when we need anything. Bunks has curtains so we have privacy at the dormitory. There is free coffee for everyone! This is the second time I get to Takayama and I loved it as the first time and the accommodation was outstanding for me.
