The hosts were so friendly and we loved the coworking space next door to the guesthouse. We were able to catch up with a little work as well as get a great night's sleep. The neighbourhood was quiet and peaceful and there were many shops nearby. Tomaruku was an excellent choice and we would love to return one day in the near future.

Mary and her husband Kai were wonderful hosts – so nice, warm, and welcoming. They helped us find a wonderful local izakaya in the middle of the night, and Mary took such caring attention of us when we didn’t feel well. We also saw how Kai and Mary help all their visitors and guests, booking stations along the pilgrimage and really taking care of everyone like family members. They are so joyful and kind that you forget you’ve only known them for a few hours. The place itself is super clean, nice, practical, and very comfortable. She even offers some food for free, which was such a thoughtful touch. The location is excellent – just off the town of Tosa near Kochi – making everything easily accessible: temples, nature, whale watching, marine activities, and the city of Kochi. We truly recommend this homely guest house with its wonderful atmosphere, amenities, and above all, its amazing owners and personnel.

Situated just 3.9 km from Sukumo City History Museum, ゲストハウスみんちゅう offers accommodation in Sukumo with access to a garden, a shared lounge, as well as private check-in and check-out. We were travelling around on motorbikes and found this fantastic guesthouse, which was very clean, with spacious rooms and all amenities required within striking distance to Mt Aso. The owner was very helpful, even helping us book ferry tickets to Shikoku, and the attached Izakya had great food and atmosphere.

Boasting air-conditioned accommodation with a patio, CrossFit Otoyo Strength TINY HOUSE is situated in Otoyocho. This property offers access to a balcony, free private parking and free WiFi. The CrossFit Tiny House was a charming little abode in the outskirts of Iya Valley. Connected to a well stocked CrossFit gym, it provided us with everything we needed, a well equipped kitchen, clean and comfortable bathing facilities, cozy sleeping and a peaceful environment to use as a base to explore the valley for a few days. We also participated in a mobility class in the gym free of charge as guests of the house and the owners were kind and helpful 🙂

Featuring mountain views, Guesthouse boro-ya provides accommodation with a garden and a patio, around 50 km from Kōchi Station. Very unique mountain top location in traditional Japanese home, but made very comfortable with everything needed for a cozy and relaxing stay. Would highly recommend if looking for an experience off the beaten path. We especially enjoyed warming up in the fire pit, while BBQing a delicious meal and enjoying the relaxing and awesome views from the mountains.

Shimanto Riverside Hideaway, a property with a garden, is situated in Shimanto, 12 km from Shimanto Historical Museum, 12 km from Ichijo Shrine, as well as 13 km from Shimanto Yasunamiundo Koen Park. When someone looks for a special place to stay, this could be a good option; well equipped, beautifully renovated Traditional style house in a lovely quiet village. Kenji, the host, is friendly and helpful. We would like to stay longer!

Situated in Shimanto-cho, EkimaehouseSamaru is a recently renovated accommodation, 13 km from Kaiyodo Hobby Museum Shimanto and 24 km from Monjudo Temple. It was a great location with great staff. He was very helpful. I just wish I could’ve stayed longer than one night.

Guesthouse Suisen is situated in Konan and offers free bikes and a garden. Great host and very nice room. Got a great dinner and breakfast very good.

Offering a garden and mountain view, Guesthouse En is situated in Ochi, 28 km from Hijiri Shrine and 28 km from Odo Dam Museum. Wonderful host(s)!!! Beautiful location, need a car and decent driving skills to get there, but once you are there, you are going to love it.
