Satomi was very kind, friendly, and helpful; also spoke great English. The apartment is fantastic, pictures really can't do it justice, it's got such a great flow and cozy feeling. We stopped by the Youme grocery store (also really neat compared to what we've seen in the US) and used the kitchen to heat up our meals. The washing machine worked great and was a lifesaver halfway through our vacation. Takeo itself is lovely, definitely pay a visit to the library and the camphor tree and both restaurants we visited were out of this world.

Friendly host who's an artist with great english! Reply to messages on booking.com system very quickly, always helpful. Perfect secluded traditional Japanese house with modern kitchen and bathroom. Beautiful garden. The host prepared multiple pillows and blankets for people with different preferences.

Incredible guesthouse in a nice a traditional Japanese village, right by the train station also. Had the whole dorm to myself that night and was able to cook up a feast. Owner was so friendly and let me keep my bags after check out also.

The best customer service during my whole stay in Kyushu. Inoue-Sama In the reception was truly helpful, and took his time to make me feel comfortable. It is not common to receive service in English in Kyushu, but the Karatsu seaside hotel surpised me positively. A big recommendation for the breakfast hand made Onigiris with your preferences. The room with the ocean view was excellent and I truly felt like a high end traveller. This was my first destination after flying from europe, sot he Onsen (spa) that included in the room price was super relaxing. I visited there on both of my stays. The small details makes this one of the best hotels I have been. Complimentary cake service, ice cream at the Onsen area. Coupon for the souvenir and snack shop, bicycles, the breakfast that you could enjoy for days and still not be able to taste everything... I wish I could come here again.

Our stay at Mrs. Hanneke’s guesthouse was simply wonderful. From the very first moment, her warmth and genuine hospitality made us feel completely at home. She is an incredible host — kind, attentive, and truly caring in every detail. The design of the guesthouse is absolutely stunning. Every space is thoughtfully curated, blending elegance with a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. But the highlight for us was the Japanese-style family room: it felt like stepping into a dream. Sleeping there was like being inside a Miyazaki illustration — peaceful, magical, and full of charm. The soft lighting, the tatami atmosphere, and the beautiful details created an unforgettable experience. Everything was spotless, comfortable, and perfectly arranged. You can feel the love and dedication behind this place. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for something special, authentic, and beautifully designed. A true gem.

The in-house hot spring was great, too. We celebrated our husbands’ big birthday there. The restaurant prepared a special birthday cake for them!
