The onsen-style bath was quite hot, the way I like it and really takes the day’s soreness away. All toiletries are provided as amenities so no need to worry! Coin laundry is the standard fair price, they have snacks for sale if you don’t want to go to the nearby convenience store (they have a bike you can use if you want). The room is the traditional tatami mat with ground seating and the room is quite spacious! The bed is more western-style in that they are raised with ample cushioning. The AC works really well and the room can be heated and cooled quickly. The host is very friendly and puts a lot of thought behind the guests’ experience. Overall, I really enjoyed this stay and will cherish the memory throughout the rest of my pilgrimage.

Ryu is an excellent host and was always available with tips and suggestions. I had a wonderful stay and thoroughly enjoyed it.

This unique ryokan is perfectly situated to explore the Iya Valley from. Whether you're on foot or have a car. I travelled on foot, walking to the vine bridge which is only 4 minutes away. The bus stop it literally across the road from the entrance. Family run and very well managed. There are a few breathtakingly stunning onsens you can visit as a day visitor in the valley.

The house is beautifully designed and we loved that it's different than most Japanese guest houses. It's lovely to have such a modern and cozy concept in a small town, away from the crowds. There is actually a lot of charm in the town and it was one of our favorite stops on a month-long trip to Japan. That is also because of Alrik, who manages the property. He was so kind, hospitable, and friendly! We felt welcomed as friends, not just hotel guests. He did everything we could to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. There is a beautiful forest around, the view from the top of the town is lovely, so is the walk by the river and sunset. The Shinto shrine was such a special experience too! Thank you, Alrik and Next Chapter for this beautiful stay! We will come back to the area just to visit the guest house again, especially if Alrik is still running it!

Even though the bathrooms are shared, there's a toilet inside the room and double wash bassins right behind the door. Free coffee/tea is offered. The whole place has been cleverly thought of to ensure a practical stay and provide for every guest's needs. The lady of the house is very friendly and charming. All this for a very reasonable price.

This is a lovely spacious apartment with a fully equipped kitchen, washing machine and even a deep hot tub to soak after a long day. The apartment was extremely clean. And the owner is very helpful and easy to contact. While I don't expect people in another country to speak my language, we were very happy that the owner spoke excellent English. We liked it so much we are coming back again after our pilgrimage around Shikoku.

The place was very clean, kitchen was well equiped and i also enjoyed bar next door with draft beer. Bed was super comfy and room was spacious. I would definately stay again, thank you!:)

Very comfy and cosy stay! Host dinner and breakfast was superb! Huge portion and wide variety. Very homey dishes. Host was very friendly and kept checking everything is good.
