One of the best accommodations we had in Sri Lanka. We stayed there for 2 nights but were really sorry we didn't stay longer in the end. The rooms are perfect for someone who wants to enjoy Arugam bay, stay close to all cafes, restaurants, as well as the beach, and still wants some comfort. The accommodation is located on the main street in Arugam Bay but somehow still closed off enough that it remains peaceful. The rooms were clean, bathroom and shower amazing, beds veeeery comfortable and the AC perfect. The curtains keep the light out really well which is great if you like to sleep in in the morning. The hosts are very kind and were constantly asking if we have everything we need. I will definitely stay here again if I come back to Arugam Bay!

The Whisky Point Resort is an amazing stay with great access to the beach and a nearby surfing spot! Also, everyone there was very kind and welcoming. Definitely recommend this place.

Excellent location - 20 meters to the beach, the Main Street with all caffès and shops. 15 min driving to Peanut Farm - the starting point for beginners in surfing. Banana Cafe is just next to the hotel and has very nice food and drinks. Mohammed is very friendly, he gave us delicious cakes, arranged surfing classes for us, always helped us with everything we need. Other staff were also very helpful. The room was clean, has good AC, the bed was comfy. We really enjoyed staying at Lucky Bay.

Location at the lonely beach near Pottuvil Point was beautiful and also way less crowded with the surrounding farmlands. Chilled hide-out compared to party-tourism at Arugam Bay main beach. We’ve even seen an elephant at Pottuvil Point. Staff and manager were super friendly, extremely helpful and took care that the place felt like home - and hands-down: best hotel food in our entire Sri Lanka round travel - looking forward to receiving your Dhal receipe :)

Wonderful property and host! Iqbal and his staff were so warm and welcoming! They went above and beyond making sure I felt comfortable and enjoyed my stay! I was welcomed with delicious pineapple juice and a pastry. I ended extending my stay because it was such a warm and cozy place to spend a few days at the beach. Beach access is a few meters away. Iqbal also arranged surf lessons to peanut farm and I couldn’t recommend them enough! Best surf coach I’ve ever had! The room was very clean and spacious with hangers for wet clothes and storage. The hammocks outside each room are a very nice touch and relaxing. Each morning, the breakfast was very good and tasty! Lots of fresh fruit! Whatever you need, Iqbal and his team will take care of. Had a lot of nice chats with Iqbal. He will be missed! Wish I could stay for longer. Will definitely be back to this cozy piece of paradise.

Very nice, place, about 10 minutes walk from the center of Arugam Bay, but they provide free bicycles, so it’s relatively easy to get there. The bungalows are spacious and comfortable, breakfast is filling enough and they provide free yoga sessions every day and also surfing lessons (cost is similar to that in the city).

Charitha and his family were great hosts and extremely attentive to all our needs (ready to go above and beyond). The food was delicious, the room was large and clean with an air conditioning that worked almost too well, there is a seating area in the garden from which you can hear birds and witness monkeys walking along the electrical wires. The property is walking distance (30 min) from Owagiriya Natabun Viharaya (Buddhist temple ruins) and as we were on our way Charitha kindly gave us a lift, as well as to another destination later during our stay. Both the father and mother are absolute sweethearts, and are more than happy to sit down with you for a chat (I had a little well needed Sinhalese crash course). From what I can see they are building more rooms/bungalows and a restaurant in the back, but as of February 2025 it truly had that quaint local feel I look for when I travel.

Starfisch Cabana felt like our second home, such a beautiful place with the best host!. Tharindu was always ready to help or have a chat with! The place is very clean, quiet and has a small outdoor kitchen. The fans work well and our bathroom was modern! Also a special acknowledgement has to go to the stunning, well-maintained garden. Absolutely stunning and very relaxing atmosphere. Furthermore, we got delicious breakfast every day which always hit the spot after a sunrise surf! Tharindu changed the breakfast every day from a traditional sri lanka breakfast to poached eggs with avocado toast with a delicious fruit bowl. Overall, Starfish Cabana is a hidden gem in Arugam Bay and if you are looking for a place to stay, look no further. Thank you for the wonderful stay! We will be back :)
