Pingyao Jiaxin Guesthouse features air-conditioned guest accommodation in Pingyao, 1.5 km from China Chamber of Commerce Museum, 1.5 km from Ji's Old Residence and 1.5 km from Pingyao Railway Station.... The staff was so kind and happy all the time, they helped me a lot and they speak English, which is pretty rare in China, even in some hotels. They gave me a map and recommended some places, also asked a taxi for me for the next day that I had my train to Beijing in the morning. The shared dorm was clean, had shampoo, air conditioner, clean sheets, futon, and pillow. Also curtains for privacy. I enjoyed my stay a lot. They even gave me a little souvenir on my way out and free water. Thank you for a very pleasant stay. Amazing price and just five minutes walking from North Gate of the old city. Supermarket right on the corner.

If you want the romance of a traditional courtyard with true boutique-hotel comfort, stay here. The property is brand-new, immaculate, and beautifully lit at night. Rooms are quiet and minimalist with great water pressure, reliable fast Wi-Fi, plenty of bedside outlets, and strong AC/heat. The bed and linens meet Western comfort standards. Breakfast can be chosen Chinese or Western—I tried both during my stay and each was fresh, well-presented, and generous (fresh juice and good coffee/tea included). Staff were proactive and friendly, arranged luggage pickup from the city gate, and communicated smoothly in English. The location is perfect for walking the lanes yet peaceful once inside the courtyard. Tips for Western travelers: cars can’t enter the old town, so message the hotel for pickup; wear comfortable shoes; and leave time to simply enjoy the courtyard—part heritage museum, part modern gallery. A flawless stay.

I really made the right choice with this homestay in Pingyao! The location is absolutely a hidden gem—just a two-minute walk gets you to Rishengchang Bank, so there’s no need to get up early to soak in the Jin merchant culture. It’s super convenient to head back for a break after visiting the attractions. What’s more, the surrounding area is bustling with life. When you stroll out in the evening, the lanterns light up, and old shops and street food stalls are right in front of you, full of that lively, authentic vibe. No need to hunt for places to eat; just step into any spot, and it’s sure to be delicious. The biggest surprise, though, is the service here—they truly take care of every little detail. When I checked in, the owner warmly introduced local attractions, even telling me which shop has the most authentic Pingyao beef and the best time to visit Rishengchang to avoid crowds. That kind of thoughtful care makes the whole trip feel so warm. I’ll definitely stay here again when I come back to Pingyao. Great location, amazing atmosphere, and service that’s second to none—highly recommended!

Our stay was perfect. The owner and his daughter did everything to make us feel at home. The place was really beautiful, our room was cozy and warm. They cooked us breakfast even if we had to leave early in the morning. They were so kind to take us to the train station. If you come to Pingyao this is the perfect place to stay!

Located in Yuncheng, 27 km from Yuncheng North Railway Station, Yuncheng Yunxi Furusato-Banma Resort provides accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a fitness centre and a... Friendly and polite staff, very welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable. The restaurant served delicious dishes at affordable prices. It is the perfect place to relax for the weekend. The Guandi Family Temple is only a 10min walk from the property, very easy to reach and totally worth the visit. As for other tourism attractions although a bit far, the hotel can recommend drivers and the prices are acceptable.

The hotel is so charming. It’s located in a traditional house within the walls. The staff is truly amazing. They offered us a transfer from and to the railway station and the value was really good. They also provided us with all the information to explore the old city. They also gave us snacks when we were leaving.

Located in Wutai and with Puhua Temple reachable within 11 km, ManBuYunDuan.Theme Inn provides concierge services, allergy-free rooms, a terrace, free WiFi throughout the property and a restaurant. The host is incredible, going out of her way to make certain guests are cared for. She helped us know where to visit in the expansive area is Wutai mountain. When we had trouble with entrance into the resort area, she came to the front to help us work through the registration difficulties; we asked about seeing a sun rise and she arranged a trip the took us to a gorgeous pilgrimage site; she arranged a shuttle service that took us directly to the airport for a lower cost than bus service and taking 3 hours less time - really a remarkable host. Meanwhile she’s also hosting other guests and running the restaurant. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and adorable with a beautiful tea table set in a window. The room was always ready with water, snacks and tea. Staying at this location allowed us to enjoy the area of Wutai mountain to the fullest extent possible.
