The place is GREAT, but the people were EXCEPTIONAL. Paola, Manuel and Francisco were the best hosts: Friendly, attentive, generous but un-intrusive. They made all of our stay fantastic and really can’t be praised enough. The Hostal itself is charming, perfectly located 10 seconds from the beach (just cross the road) and, with its walled courtyard, kind of an oasis. The communal kitchen is open-air and a great place to hang out in the hammocks. We had two rooms that were both great but with different vibes: the room with en-suite bathroom had great natural light and was really beautiful. The other room had a second bed in a loft space up a ladder. Our 7 year old was beyond thrilled and didn’t want to leave. The entire place is clean and well-maintained.

Located right in front of the waterfront in Puerto Lopez, Victor Hugo has comfortable rooms with free Wi-Fi. Salango Beach is 5 km away. The staff was great. I do the speak much Spanish. They were very helpful if I needed anything.
